A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT BETWEEN
THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS AND TEXAS VOTING SYSTEMS,
INC. TO PROVIDE SERVICES AND SUPPLIES FOR AN ELECTION TO BE HELD
ON THE 7TH DAY OF MAY, 1988.
WHEREAS, by Ordinance No. 1739, passed and approved at a regular
meeting on February 25, 1988, the Mayor and City Council of the
City of College Station, Texas ordered a general election to be
held on the first Saturday in May, said date being May 7, 1988;
and,
WHEREAS, Section 271.002 of the State Election Code authorizes
the holding of joint elections by two or more political subdivi-
sions, and the City of College Station and the College Station
Independent School District previously resolved to hold and
subsequently do hold such joint elections; and,
WHEREAS, State Election Code, Section 271.004, provides that the
expenses of a joint election are to be allocated as provided by
the joint election agreement; and, the City of College Station
and the College Station Independent School District agree that
the City of College Station shall initially pay for election
expenses in even-numbered years and the College Station Inde-
pendent School District shall initially pay for election ser-
vices in the odd-numbered years, with pro-rated reimbursement to
be made to the payor by the other entity; and,
WHEREAS, under the terms agreed to by the City of College
Station and the College Station Independent School District,
the City is responsible for election expenses for the joint
election to be held on May 7, 1988; and,
WHEREAS, after due consideration at a meeting held on March 10,
1988, the College Station City Council determined Texas Voting
Systems, Inc. to be a reasonable and reliable provider of cer-
tain services and supplies relating to the holding of joint
elections and that entering into a contract with Texas Voting
Systems, Inc. would be beneficial to the welfare of the city.

NOW THEREFORE, WE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE
STATION TEXAS, do hereby resolve that the Mayor is authorized
to execute an agreement with Texas Voting Systems, Inc. for the
provision of certain election services as specified in the copy
of the contract which is attached hereto and made a part of this
resolution.

This contract, made this th day of March, 1988, by and between TEXAS VOTING
SYSTEMS, INC., a Texas Corporation, and the CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, County
of Brazos, State of Texas.
WITNESSETH:
Whereas, Texas Voting Systems, Inc. is in the business of selling election services, and;
Whereas, the City of College Station is desirous of employing the services of Texas
Voting Systems Inc. in connection with the CITY OF COLLEGE STATION MUNICIPAL
- COLLEGE STATION lSD TRUSTEE ELECTION to be held on May 7, 1988, in the City
of College Station, and part of Brazos County, Texas, and;
Now, Therefore, in consideration of the premises and mutual promises and obligations
herein set forth, it is agreed:
TEXAS VOTING SYSTEMS, INC. will provide the following~$~
la) 6,000 numbered and printed Official Ballot Cards.
{b) All required hinged ballot pages and punched masks.
(c) Sample ballots and demonstration ballot cards.
id) Fifteen (15) election sets to include one absentee - canvassing board set
and one central counting set.
(e) All required seals for the voting equipment.
(f) Custom ballot layout for each voting precinct for checking correct ballot
pages.
(g) Writs and Notice of Election.
(h) Precinct polling place supplies (pens - tape - extra stylus) as required.
ii) Absentee mail out sets in Spanish and English.
(j) Polyurethane absentee backers as required.
TEXAS VOTING SYSTEMS, INC. will provide the following_q~
(a) Assemble seventy five i75) voting devices, and check each unit.
(b) Deliver units to the City of College Station voting precincts before the
election, and return the voting devices to the Brazos County
warehouse after the election.
(c) Provide complete ballot layout and design.
(d) Conduct one (1) classes for election judges and clerks of the election on
election procedure.
(e) Conduct one (1) class for all central counting personnel if required.
(f) Assist with Absentee Voting as required.
(g) Prepair all supplies for use in the individual precincts.
ih) Assist in the preparation of the computer test deck and holding of the Official
Test of the vote count computer.
ii) Assistance on election day, as required, to include the central counting station.

(j) Provide any consulting services before and after the above mentioned elec-
tion.
(kD Provide repair crews for the voting device repair in the individual precincts
on election day.
(ID All required EDP programing for above mentioned election.
The CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, County of Brazos, State of Texas, will be
responsible for, and hereby assumes the following duties and obligations in regard
to the CITY OF COLLEGE STATION MUNICIPAL - COLLEGE STATION lSD TRUSTEE
ELECTION to be held on May 7, 1988.
(a) Rental of the voting equipment and all required ballot boxes, transfer cases,
and other needed equipment from Brazos County.
(bD Payment of all Election Judges, Alternate Judges, and Clerks of Election,
to include the central counting station.
(c) Furnish Texas Voting Systems, Inc. a complete list of all candidates and
issues for all races to be conducted in the above mentioned election.
(dD All reports, expense accounts, canvass of the election, conduct of the elec-
tion at the individual polling places, and any other statutory requirements
as required by the Texas Election Code and/or the Federal Voting Rights
Act, and not specifically covered above.
The consideration to be paid by the City of College Station to Texas Voting
Systems, Inc. for the services and supplies to be rendered by said corporation in
the CITY OF COLLEGE STATION MUNICIPAL - COLLEGE STATION lSD TRUSTEE
ELECTION to be held on May 7, 1988 is five thousand, five hundred dollars and 00
