Public Service Director LaBeau, Engineer Mike Haster, Public Information Officer Calliham, City Engineer Pullen and Budget Director Schroeder AGENDA ITEM NUMBER 1 - Closed session to discuss personnel [Art.6252-17(2)(g)]. - Personnel [6252-17 (2)(g): discussion of appointment of an individual ~o.t~e.,9-1-1- District Board of Directors: The meeting was called to order by Mayor Marvin Tate of the City of Bryan. He commented that the meeting marked the second time that the cities of Bryan, College Station, and Wixon Valley had convened in joint session. Mayor Tate welcomed everyone and asked Wixon Valley Mayor Roy Barnes to introduce the representatives with him. Mayor Barnes introduced Mayor Pro tem Ruby Andrews and Alderman Ike Wilganowski. Mayor Larry J Ringer introduced College Station Mayor Pro tem Fred Brown and Councilmen Lynn McIlhaney, Dick Haddox, Dick Birdwell, Jim Gardner, and Vernon Schneider. Mayor Tate introduced Bryan Councilmen Edward Aycox, Ben Hardeman, Larry Catlin, Helen Chavarria, and Bob Reese. The three mayors concurred that discussion would begin in open session. Mayor Ringer made a motion to appoint Ernie Clark to serve as a director representing the three cities on the 9-1-1 District Board. Mayor Pro tem Fred Brown seconded the motion. Mayor Tate called for discussion on the motion. Mayor Ringer stated that Bryan City Manager Clark had completed a one-year term on the 9-1-1 District Board and knew the operation. He - ,,.70, pointed out the importance of each of the major cities having representation on the Board, and noted that they would protect Wixon Valley's interest also. He commented that Fred Brown, College Station, currently serves on the Board. No other nominations were made. The vote on Mayor Ringer's motion to appoint Bryan City Manager Clark to the 9-1-1 Board was approved unanimously, 16-0. Mayor Ringer said he realized that the representatives to the 9-1-1 Board initially drew lots for terms, but he believed that the two terms for directors appointed by the cities should expire at the same time. He explained that doing so would allow more flexibility in making appointments and that changing the By-Laws to end the cities' two terms concurrently, would be appropriate. Mayor Ringer noted that the director's term filled by Fred Brown would end in one more year. A motion was made by Mayor Ringer that the 9-1-1 District Board be asked to consider an amendment to the By-Laws so that the two representatives from the cities would have concurrent terms of office. Bryan Councilman Larry Catlin seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously, 16-0. Mayor Barnes thanked the cities of Bryan and College Station for their invitation to the meeting and spoke of the efforts and work to build Wixon Valley into a good community. Mayor Ringer responded that the other cities were glad to support and help the community.
