HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-12-89-5.5 - Resolution - 10/12/1989RES(X/~ION NO. 10-12-89-5.5 A RESC~UTION AMESDI~ THE ~ P(~ICY HASDBOfK CREATING A PC~ICY C~ EDUCATIONAL REIMBURSEMENT Whereas, the City of College Station believes in the pursuance of education for personal and professional develol~ent; Whereas, the unique composition of the co~unity promotes the value of education and provides opportunities for City employees; Whereas, the City wishes to promote educational advancement through reimbursement for its employees, other than Police and Fire; N(~ ~ORE, BE IT RESCLVED that the City of College Station hereby adopts the "Education Reimbursement Policy", attached, as a part of the City of College Station Personnel Handbook. PASSED AND APPROVED THIS THE 12TH DAY ~F OCTOBER, 1989. DIAN J~ES ' CITY S~2RETARY 007514 Purpose To provide an educatiorml reimbursom~nt progr~'a for employees in order to encourage personal and professional growth. Eliqibility All regular, full-time employees (except Sworn Police Officers and Certified Fire Personnel) who have worked for the city at least one (1) year are eligible for educational reimbursement. The courses ~ust be taken at an accredited college, university, or technical school and must be for job-related courses, or courses required for a job-related degree. The Department Head shall decide whether the course is job-related or not. General Provisions Reimbursement shall be for tuition, laboratory fees, or other school service fees. The City will participate in these costs up to a maximum of $300.00 per semester with a total FY maximum of $600.00. Employee must apply in advance of the semester or session in order to get approval of job-relatedness and class schedules. 'Employee must satisfactorily complete the course work by obtaining a grade of "C" or "passing" on a pass/fail system, andmust submit an official transcript or grade slip along with fee receipts in order to receive payment. Employee must be employed by the City at the time unless absent through no fault of the employee (i.e. service). of reimbursement layoff, military Assistance from other sources such as scholarships, grants, or subisdy programs (G.I. Bill) will be deducted fro~total associated costs first before reimbursement is made. Basic certifications, short courses, and other training sessions fall under Departmental Training Programs and are not covered by this program. Course times and schedules that interfere with daily work routines mustbe approved by the Department Head. Any change needed in work time in order to fit class schedulesmust first comply with the needs of the department and the City. This policy in no way guarantees someone time off or schedule rearrangement. If an employee wishes to get his c~D, the City will pay the base fee and also allow a paid day in order to take the test. This will be limited to two (2) tests per person. 007515 RESOLUTION NO./~ A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE BUDGET FOR THE BRAZOS COUNTY EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS DISTRICT 911 (THE DISTRICT); AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the laws of the state of Texas provide cooperative governmental agreements and actions citizens; and, for interlocal to benefit the WHEREAS, the voters of Brazos County have establishment of the Brazos County Emergency District 911 in accordance with Article 1432e by November 3, 1~87; and, approved the Communications election held WHEREAS, the Board of Managers of the District in lawful meeting held September 20, 1989 approved and adopted the budget for the District for the fiscal year 1989-90; and, WHEREAS, Article 1432e(?)(b) requires the approval of the District budget by a majority of the participating jurisdictions in the District as well as by the County Commissioner's Court in the District; and, WHEREAS, the undersigned jurisdictions have in public meeting approved the annual budget for the District; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BRAZOS COUNTY COMMISSIONER'S COURT, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BRYAN, TEXAS, AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WIXON VALLEY, TEXAS THAT: The undersigned respective county and cities individually and jointly hereby approve the annual budget of the Brazos County Emergency Communications District 911 as provided for by law. The undersigned represent that they and each of them are duly authorized and empowered by their respective governmental unit to sign hereinbelow. This resolution shall be executed in a number of original signature counterparts, each of which shall, for all purposes be deemed an original, and ail such counterparts shall constitute one and the same document. 007516 This resolution shall be effective for ali purposes as of October 1, 1~8~ for the governmental units adopting and passing it as reflected by their chief executive officer's signature below.
