HomeMy WebLinkAbout05/12/1952 - Regular Minutes - City CouncilREGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING May 12, 1952 The City Council met in regular session May 12, 1952, with the following present: Mayor Langford; Councilmen Badgett, Boyer, Boyett, Fitch, Pugh, and Sorrels; City Manager Rogers; Assistant City Secretary Boswell and City Secretary McGinnis. Messers J. C. Culpepper and Bill Carll were present as visitors. Councilman Fitch made a motion, seconded by Councilman Boyer, that Mr. Nelson D. Durst be employed to audit the City's books for the fiscal year ending with June 30, 1952. The Council vote was unanimous in favor of the motion. City Manager Rogers was authorized to invite Mr. Dean Gorham, Director of the Texas Retirement System, to meet with the Council on June 9th, 1952, to discuss the "Retirement System" as it might pertain to the City's employees. Messers Culpepper and Carll discussed the width of the streets and the types of street construction as it pertains to their new subdivision now being constructed on the Tauber property. Councilman Fitch made a motion, seconded by Councilman Boyett, that the City Attorney be instructed to prepare an Ordinance fixing the commercial electric rates for the City, effective with the next fiscal year, the same as the domestic rates. . Councilman Badgett made a motion, seconded by Councilman Boyer, to table the above motion made by Councilman Fitch. The vote on Councilman Fitch's motion was four for the motion and three against the motion; motion to table defeated four to three. The Council sat 4:30 p.m. May 1/., 1952, as the time for a called meeting to discuss "streets" with Messers Culpepper and Carll, and to consider possible changes in electric rates.
