HomeMy WebLinkAbout04/14/1952 - Regular Minutes - City CouncilREGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING April 14, 1952 The City Council met in regular session April 14, 1952, with the following members present: Mayor Langford; Councilmen Badgett, Boyett, Pugh, Sorrels; City Manager Rogers; Assistant City Secretary Boswell, and City Secretary McGinnis. The following visitors were present at this meeting; Messers J. G. McGuire, and F. E. Weick. Mayor Langford administered the oath of office to the three newly elected councilmen, Messers A. P. Boyett, A C. Pugh, and A H. Sorrels. Mrs. Florence Neelley administered the oath of office to Mayor Langford. The Council named the following citizens to offices for a two year term, as required by the City Charter: City Secretary, N. M. McGinnis City Attorney, J. Wheeler Barger City Judge, Philip B. Goode Mayor Protein, W. Howard Badgett City Health Officer, Dr. A A Marsh Representative on the Governing Board of the County Health Unit, Mayor. Langford The Council named the following citizens to the several committes to fWiction for the coming year: City Zoning Commission; E. E. Vezey, Chairman H. A Burgess A R. Holleman S. J. Buchanan L. D. Smith City Planning Commission; A A Romlett, Chairman S. R. Wright R. F. White City Cemetery Committee N. A McGinnis, Chairman S. L. Loveless Mrs. A T. L. McNees Mrs. E. E. McQuillen Mrs. D. W. Rode City Human Relations Council Daniel Russell, Chairman L. D. Trevino M. L. Cashion Councilman Badgett made a.motion, seconded by Councilman Pugh, that the above appointments be ratified by the Council. The Council vote was unanimous in favor of the motion. Messers McGuire and Weick appeared before the Council in support of a petition presented to the Council requesting the annexing of the l 1 "Knoll" to the City. No official action was taken by the Council on the petition. Councilman Badgett made a motion, seconded by Councilman Pugh, to authorize any Reserve Officer, or member of the Reserve National Guard, employed by the City, to attend required training periods during the year; the time absent from City duties to be without pay or on vacation time.
