HomeMy WebLinkAbout01/30/1953 - Special Minutes - City Councily MINUTES OF CITY COUNCIL MEETING January 30, 1953 The City Council met in special session at 5:00 p,m. January 30, 1953, with the following present: Mayor Langford, Councilmen Badgett, Boyer, Boyett, Sorrels; City Attorney Barger and City Manager Boswell. The purpose of the meeting was to consider an ordinance creating a City Recreation Board. City Secretary McGinnis being absent, the Mayor designated Councilman Badgett to act as secretary for the meeting. On motion of Councilman Sorrels, seconded by Councilman Boyett, the action of the Council on January 21, 1953 directing the City Attorney to prepare an ordinance authorizing a referendum to be held at the next municipal election on the question whether a municipally conducted recreation program shall be authorized and a tax of ten cents on the one hundred dollars of property valuation be levied to pay the cost of the program was rescinded. On motion of Councilman Badgett, seconded by Councilman Sorrels, Ordinance No. 177, an ordinance creating a City Recreation Board, etc., was adopted and approved.
