August 16, 1954
The City Council met in regular session August 16, 1954, with the
following present: Mayor Langford; Councilmen Boyett, Seeger and Sorrels;
d City Attorney Barger; City Engineer Benson; City Manager Boswell and
t�, City'Secretary McGinnis. Dr. F. B. Clark and Mr. T. S. Harrison were
visitors.

Councilman Sorrels made a motion, seconded by Councilmen Boyett, that
CL Mayor Langford be authorized to renew for the City a note held by the
Cb College Station State Bank in the amount of $3,098.81.
m The vote of the Council was unanimous in favor of the motion.

n10 Councilman Sorrels made a motion, seconded by Councilmen Seeger, that
Mayor Langford be authorized to approve the platting of South Knoll Addition,
® as submitted to the Council at this meeting by Messrs. Clark and Harrison,
Z when the drainage in Block 22 is satisfactorly provided for and approved by
HCity Engineer Benson, all subject to the recommendation of approval by the
(� City Planning Commission.
The vote of the Council was unanimous in favor of the motion.
Councilman Boyett made a motion, seconded by Councilman Seeger, that '
Mayor Langford, and other persons whom he may choose to accompany him, call
upon Chancellor M. T. Harrington of the A. & M. College System and discuss
with him the possibility of the College being relieved of supplying a part
of the city with electric energy, and that if necessary Mayor Langford and
City Manager Boswell be authorized to visit Beaumont to negotiate with the
Gulf States Utilities Company relative to the possibility of that company
supplying the city with power.
The vote of the Council was unanimous 3n favor of the motion.
The date of.the September meeting of the Council was set for September
27 instead of the regular date of September 20.
