T. Johnson, Claude Collins, X Lawrence Parker, George Roberts, M. A. Coleman. Q Z Bids for certain extensions of water lines were opened and read Q publicly as follows: George Roberts $12,314.50, Andrews Parker $13,519.00. On motion by Councilman Orr, seconded by Councilman Pugh, all voting aye, the Mayor was authorized to sign a contract with George Roberts in the amount of his bid of $12,314.50. Work on extensions to begin at earliest possible moment and to be substantially com- pleted forty days thereafter. On motion by Councilman Orr, seconded by Councilman Sorrels, all voting aye, the City Manager was authorized to spend $4014.50 out of the general fund to supplement the bond fund for the exten- sions of water lines referred to above. The City Attorney was requested to prepare an ordinance deleting from the fire zone the following property: aUl of that property in Block 3, College Hills Estates, lying between the North line of Lot 14 and the West line of the Park Area lying North of Lot 1; however, the restrictions of the zoning ordinance relative to District No. 4, (First Business District) to be maintained. On motion by Councilman Pugh, seconded by Councilman Orr, all voting aye, the Auditorts report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1956 was approved and accepted. The Mayor was instructed to write a letter to Mr. N. D. Durst who made the audit to express to him the appreciation of the council for the painstaking effort expended in f� auditing the accounts of the city. Mr. M. A. Coleman reviewed for the council the proposed develop- ment of State Highway 6 through the city limits. Z On motion by Councilman Orr, seconded by Councilman Pugh, all voting aye, Ordinance No. 237, an ordinance providing for the re - U' t/a construction and maintenance of the portion of State Highway No. 6 p g Y in the City of College Station, Texas etc., was passed and approved. Minutes of City Council Continued: 2 October 22, 1956 On motion by Councilman Orr, seconded by Councilman Seeger, the Municipal Construction Agreement between the State of Texas and the City of College Station was approved and the Mayor and City Secretary authorized to sign same for the city. On motion by Councilman Orr, seconded by Councilman Seeger, the returns of the municipal election on September 28 were canvassed, ac- cepted and approved. The City Manager was directed to notify all par- ties concerned of the results of this election. On motion by Councilman Sorrels, seconded by Councilman Orr, all voting aye, the City Manager was authorized to have a test well drilled at the cemetery to determine whether or not sufficient water can be found to warrant the drilling and completion of a well to furnish water for cemetery maintenance. The City Manager was requested to have ready for the next meeting information relative to the possible need of an increase in the police force. The question of a long-range plan for future street improvements, street lights, etc., was discussed at considerable length.
