January 16, 1956
The City Council met in regular session at 7:00 P. M. January 16, 1956,
with the following present: Councilmen Boyett, Orr, Pugh, Seeger and Sorrels;
City Attorney Barger; City Manager Boswell and City Secretary McGinnis.
Mr. Weldon Jones, representing the Battalion, was a ,visitor.
Councilman Sorrels made a motion, seconded by Councilman Seeger, that
Mayor Langford be authorized to renew a note for $6,000.00 now due at the
College Station State Bank.
The vote of the Council was unanimous in favor of the motion.
Councilman Boyett made a motion, seconded by Councilman Sorrels, that
Ordinance No. 218, an Ordinance providing for a public hearing on the re-
zoning a certain tract of land at the intersection of Sulphur Springs Road
and Highway No. 6, be passed.
The vote of the Council was unanimous in favor of the motion.
Councilman'Sorrels made a motion, seconded by Councilman Pugh, that
the city build the power lane and supply the power for operating the new
sewerage disposal plant.
The vote of the Council was unanimous in favor of the motion.
The Council changed the regular meeting date from the third to the
forth Monday of each month.
Councilman Sorrels made a motion, seconded by Councilman Pugh, that
the City Manager be authorized to prepare an estimate of the cost of an
eight -inch water line connecting the College Hills mains with the mains at
Consolidated School, and report the results at the February meeting of the
Council.
The vote of the Council was unanimous in favor of the motion.
Councilman Pugh made a motion, seconded by Councilman Seeger, that
the City Attorney be authorized to institute condemnation proceedings against
certain property owners on the east side of Old Highway 6 and the city limits
for the purpose of widening Old Highway 6.
The vote of the Council was unanimous in favor of the motion.
Councilman Pugh made a motion, seconded by Councilman Boyett, that
Ordinance No. 219, an Ordinance incorporating all of those portions of Woodland
Estates andWoodland Acres Additions not already incorporated within the
limits of the city be passed after complying with Article II, Section 7, of
the City Charter.
The vote of the Council was unanimous in favor of the motion.
