Purpose of meeting was for filing with the Board of Water Engineers presentation to investigate the feasibility of a project by the construction of a reservoir on the Navasota River, etc., as set out in detail below: BE IT REMEMBERED THAT on the 6th day of December, 1958 at a special meeting of the City Council of the City of College Station, duly and prop- erly called, the following proceedings, among others, were had. Councilman Landiss presented the following resolution, and moved its adoption; the motion was seconded by Councilman Sorrels. Upon a vote being taken, the motion prevailed. The resolution is as follows: WHEREAS, the City of College Station, Texas, needs a supply of water from the Navasota River, a tributary of the Brazos River, in Brazos Counties, Texas; and WHEREAS, it appears necessary and desirable that a presentation be filed with the Board of Water Engineers to investigate the feasibility of a project by the construction of a reservoir on the Navasota River between the points indicated on the presentation hereinafter set forth and the di- version of water therefrom; and WHEREAS, it appears that the presentation for such investigation of the feasibility of the construction of such a project can best be accomplished by filing such presentation through the agency of the Brazos River Authority; and WHEREAS, the Brazos River Authority has indicated its willingness to act as agent for the City of College Station in presenting the presentation to the Board of Water Engineers of the State of Texas, securing its original filing, and, if necessary, from time to time securing extensions of the rights under the presentation as provided by law; and WHEREAS, the City of Navasota heretofore on the day of , 1958, presented for filing to the Board of Water Engineers of the State of Texas a presentation to investigate the development of the water supply on the Navasota River, a tributary of the Brazos River; and WHEREAS, the City of College Station wishes to request the City_ of Navasota to withdraw such application for a presentation and join the City of College Station in the presentation hereinafter set forth, if such joint presentation is accepted by the Board of Water Engineers; 005680 r W MINUTES OF CITY COUNCIL CONTINUED: Page 2 December 6, 1958 W NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: 1. The City of Navasota is hereby requested to withdraw its application for presentation heretofore presented to the Board of 'Water Engineers on the day of , 1958, and join the City of College Station in the 0 presentation hereinafter set forth. no 2. The Brazos River Authority is authorized to file as agent on behalf of the City of College Station the presentation set out hereafter. 3. The Brazos River Authority is authorized to take such other and further action in connection with the presentation, including, but not limited to, the request for extensions of such presentation, as provided by law, as may be necessary from time to time. 4. All actions of the Brazos River Authority in presenting such pres- entation to the Board of Water Engineers, securing its filing, and presenting from time to time applications for extension and securing the granting of such extensions of the presention from the Board of Water Engineers are ratified and confirmed. Not less than 8,500 acre-feet per annum for the City of Navasota for municipal purposes; Not less than 34,500 acre-feet per annum for the City of Bryan for municipal purposes; 00669 zy,1 5. The presentation to be filed by the Brazos River Authority reads in words and figures as follows: 0 THE STATE OF TEXAS i10 COUNTY OF PALO PINTO w KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS: W < That the Brazos River Authority, acting in its own behalf, and as agent CL for those hereinafter described represents to the Board of Water Engineers of 03 the State of Texas that it desires to investigate a project which contemplates a reservoir to be constructed on the Navasota River at some point between the confluence of said river with the Brazos River and the intersection of the 0 Limestone and Robertson County line with said Navasota River for impounding more than 20,000 acre-feet of water and the appropriation therefrom of not less than 352,000 acre-feet of water per annum for the purposes, benefit and at the option of the following: Not less than 8,500 acre-feet per annum for the City of Navasota for municipal purposes; Not less than 34,500 acre-feet per annum for the City of Bryan for municipal purposes; 00669 zy,1 MA 0 MINUTES OF CITY COUNCIL CONTINUED: Page 3 a December 6, 1958 Q Not less than 9,000 acre-feet per annum for the City of College Station for municipal purposes; b H Not less than 167,000 acre-feet per annum for the Lj Richmond Rice Association, American Canal Company, The South Texas °Water Company, Dow Chemical Company, and Briscoe Irrigation Company for industrial purposes; Cb Not less than 83,000 acre-feet per annum for the :E Richmond Rice Association, American Canal Company, The South Texas Water Company, and Briscoe Irrigation 0 Company for irrigation purposes; and 0 Not less than 50,000 acre-feet per annum for the Brazos River Authority for municipal purposes and such additional annual yield in acre-feet as is feasible at the site eventually selected. The purpose of the investigation hereunder contemplated shall be the development of maximum economically feasible conservation storage for all beneficial uses. Brazos River Authority, acting on its own behalf, and as agent for those above described represents that the public policy of the State of Texas as declared in Article 7471, Revised Civil Statutes, as amended, and specifically granting priority of application to municipal and domestic uses will be the criteria for the apportionment of water for the above described purposes and benefits. 00670 Z5�z The engineers who will proceed with the investigation are Freese and Nichols, Fort Worth, Texas `J We, the undersigned, duly authorized, hereby submit this presentation to the Board of Water Engineers for filing and accompany same with a deposit of two hundred and fifty dollars ($250.00), in conformity with the require- ments of law and especially Vernon's Ann. Civ. St. art. 7496 as amended and Section 16, et seq., Chapter 88, General Laws, Regular Session of the 35th 3 Legislature of the State of Texas, 1917, as amended.
