On motion by Councilman Anderson,'seconded by Councilman Sorrels, an expenditure of S6,300 was authorized for the purchase of a motor grader. On motion by Councilman Sorrels, seconded by Councilman Orr, the city attorney was requested to prepare an amendment to Ordinance No. 38 to include a section for the development of the newly annexed industrial site within the city limits for action and approval by the council. Visitors present: Mr. and Mrs. M. C. Schroeder, Mr, and Mrs. a D. F. Weeks, Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Litton, B. J. Kling, representing Spencer J. Buchanan and Associates. The mayor read for record a letter dated June 2, 1958, from M Mr. ,R. DeWaal, general manager of the Southern Pacific lines relative to the possible consolidation of SP and MP lines in connection with V the proposed grade separation on FM60. relative to the possibility of his working with the city in order to have ') Mr. Schroeder presented a request that some attention be given LLJ Ld to the possible correction of drainage conditions near and around his C., residence at 1215 Orr. 1 CL On motion by Councilman Landiss, seconded by Councilman Orr, � the city manager was authorized to have an engineering survey of natural creek drainage made in the area of the Knoll, Woodland Acres, 0 and College Hills. [x9 On motion by Councilman Landiss, seconded by Councilman Orr, the city manager was authorized to accept the low bid of July 14, 1958, in the amount of $1,275 by the Corbusier Chevrolet Company for the pur- chase of a 1958 Chevrolet for use as a police car. On motion by Councilman Anderson,'seconded by Councilman Sorrels, an expenditure of S6,300 was authorized for the purchase of a motor grader. On motion by Councilman Sorrels, seconded by Councilman Orr, the city attorney was requested to prepare an amendment to Ordinance No. 38 to include a section for the development of the newly annexed industrial site within the city limits for action and approval by the council. On motion by Councilman Orr, seconded by Councilman Sorrels, in order to assist the A & M Consolidated school in developing its site, the city manager was authorized to receive bids for the construction of curbs, gutters and pavement on Anderson street beginning at Jersey street M and extending south a distance of approximately 350 feet, the width of the street to be as recommended by the city engineer. Litton requested assistance in alleviating dusty On motion by Councilman Sorrels, seconded by Councilman Orr, the following recommendation of City Engineer Benson was adopted: conditions on the county road adjacent to his property. The council authorized the city manager to confer with the city engineer relative to some way of stabilizing the dust and to work with Mr. Litton as to participation in the cost by him and other property owners concerned in that immediate area. On motion by Councilman Orr, seconded by Councilman McCall, the following rate of assessment was made for new construction of 8C streets: city an additional sum of $9,444, (which includes a sum of $2,044 now claimed by Spencer J. On motion by Councilman Sorrels, seconded by Councilman Orr, the following recommendation of City Engineer Benson was adopted: UJ C 0054" a¢;2e' Spencer J. Buchanan and Associates are authorized to proceed to complete such plans and specifications as are needed by the city in College Hills Estates, College Hills Woodlands, Woodland Acres, Woodland Estates, Boyett and Tauber additions, for the con- struction of streets and required storm drainage, all work to be subject to the approval of the city engineer; further, said plans and specifications are to cost the city an additional sum of $9,444, (which includes a sum of $2,044 now claimed by Spencer J. Buchanan and Associates for work previously performed), such amount to be paid upon the acceptance of the detailed plans and specifications by the city engineer; and further, that the existing contract between the city and Spencer J. Buchanan and Associates be terminated upon this additional payment; and provided further that these conditions be accepted in writing by Spencer J. Buchanan and Associates. The council accepted for record the city engineer's map representing present conditions of city streets. The mayor was requested to communicate with the president of the college relative to possible participation by the college in street lighting along Highway 6. The city manager was requested to confer with Mr. W. D. Fitch relative to completing the paving at the intersection of Park Place and Timber street. The city attorney suggested to the council that some study should be given to the evaluation placed on unoccupied property within the city limits.
