D. Chaney, Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Crittenden, Robert A. Toland, Jr., Fred Farrar, 0 Capt. and Mrs. Robert A. Knapp, B. J. Kling, Melvin Schroeder, E. L. Brown, M A. R. Burgess, and Don Dale. Minutes of the previous meeting were approved. On motion by Councilman Sorrels, seconded by Councilman Anderson, the council accepted the report on traffic hazards at street intersections and asked Mr. Chaney and Mr. Keese to make specific recommendations for work that can be done to improve various intersections. City Engineer Benson reported on South Gate creek improvements. The estimate quoted without earth disposal was $4,654.10 and with earth disposal was $7,235.60. On motion by Councilman Orr, seconded by Councilman Sorrels, the city manager was requested to confer with the developers of Woodson Village and other property owners relative to their participating in the cost of this construction. Mr. Fred Farrar presented a petition to the council requesting a bond election for street improvements. Mayor Langford accepted the petition and stated that the council would give careful consideration to the request. Councilman Landiss reported on the M. C. Pugh property which was offered for sale or lease to the city. The council extended its appreciation to Mr. Pugh for his offer, but felt that at present the city has sufficient shop and storage space. On motion by Councilman Landiss, seconded by Councilman Anderson, the council declined to buy the property at this time. t� Mayor Langford read a letter from the Texas Highway Department relative LA to speed limits and school crossing signs. City .Attorney Dillon was asked to Cb brief speed limit regulations and report at next meeting. On motion by Council- man Sorrels, seconded by Councilman Anderson, the city manager was authorized to _D look into the legal aspects of school crossing signs and the possibility of ac- cc� quiring same. 0 City Attorney Dillon was asked to study the possibility of preparing an ordinance concerning peddlers and to write an ordinance which in his opinion could be made reasonably effective. On motion by Councilman Orr, seconded by Councilman Sorrels, the master plat of Woodson Village was approved as presented by Mr. B. J. Kling. 0 0 co Minutes of City Council Continued: Page 2 November 24, 1958 On motion by Councilman Sorrels, seconded by Councilman Orr, the first installment of the Woodson Village plat was approved contingent upon acquiring adequate drainage easements as requested by the city engineer on rear of Lots 3, 4, 5, 6 in Block 4. Mayor Langford read a letter from Mr. W. D. Fitch relative to sale of Lots 8, 9, Block 11 in Boyett addition. Councilman Sorrels, Chairman, and Councilmen Anderson and McCall were asked to study the proposal and report at the next meeting. On motion by Councilman Sorrels, seconded by Councilman Orr, December 15 was set for next regular council meeting. a Mayor Langford reported that he had appointed Mr. Luther Jones as a third member to the board of condemnation in the matter of securing right-of-way across I- the Dominik property for a proposed FM highway. 0 On motion by Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman Orr, the mayor ZS was authorized to appoint a committee to work with the city engineer to estab- W lish a policy on water lines and storm sewers which logically should be placed on or adjacent to streets abutting new subdivisions. I.i.l t O'" The city manager was instructed to take whatever steps necessary to clean up trash in the streets in business areas. Mr. Robert A. Toland, Jr., discussed briefly progress which is being made 0 in the Youth Development Counseling Service. co Mr. Lucian Morgan, on behalf of service clubs and other interested groups, asked the council to consider improvements in streets around the Consolidated School, particularly as to what should be done and probable costs.
