HomeMy WebLinkAbout06/26/1959 - Regular Minutes - City CouncilMINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING June 26, 1959 Members present: Mayor Langford; Councilmen Anderson, Boyett, Landiss, City Manager Boswell; City Secretary McGinnis; City Attorney Dillon. Visitors present: Mr. Ed Rivers, representing the Bryan Eagle, Messrs. 0. D. Dabbs, Jim Howard and Ray Knox, representing Magnolia Petroleum Company. On motion by Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman Landiss, the city manager was authorized to advertise for bids for Lee Street paving. On motion by Councilman Boyett, seconded by Councilman Landiss, Ordinance No. 284, and Ordinance approving and adopting plans and specifications for the improvement of Walton Drive and Kyle Avenue and advertising for bids was adopted. On motion by Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman Landiss, after consideration of Woodson Village Second Installment, the city manager was instructed to: (1) Have the city engineer review the plat for complete and adequate drainage; (2) work out arrangements with developer for escrow of funds to develop abutting Glade Street along the east; (3) confer with de- veloper about including Lots 7 and 8, Block 4, in this installment for pur- poses of complete and adequate drainage along the west portion of sub -division; (4) discuss with developer the question of a bridge across ravine on Thomas Street. On motion by Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman Boyett, the city manager was instructed to issue building permit to the Magnolia Petroleum Company in order that they may begin construction of their service station at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Highway 6 in accordance with Zoning Ordinance No. 38, the council having determined that the despenser island is not a building as established in said ordinance.
