HomeMy WebLinkAbout05/23/1960 - Regular Minutes - City CouncilMINUTES OF MEETING MAY 23, 1960 Members present: Mayor Langford; Councilmen Orr, Boyett, Landiss, Sorrels, Smith; City Manager Boswell; City Secretary McGinnis; City Attorney Dillon. Visitors present: Mr. & Mrs. R. A. Knapp Councilman Andersonts request to be excused from this meeting was granted. On motion by Councilman Sorrels, seconded by Councilman Orr, the mayor was authorized to renew a note in the amount of $2,000.00 with the College Station State Bank. On motion by Councilman Smith, seconded by Councilman Orr, the applica- tions of Messrs. L. M. Cobb, G. E. Bierring, and Louis Feldman to keep livestock or poultry within the city limits of College Station were approved, with the further instruction that the city manager have inspections of these premises made at least every thirty days, as well as inspections of other premises where permission to keep stock has been approved. On motion by Councilman Orr, seconded by Councilman Sorrels, the applica- tion of Mr. S. T. Stone to keep livestock or poultry within the city limits of College Station was rejected on the basis that it does not comply with the city ordinance, and the city manager was instructed to see that the chickens and turkeys on Mr. Stonets property be removed within thirty days. The city attorney was instructed to rewrite the Ordinance No. 134 , an ordinance concerning the keeping of livestock or poultry within the city limits of College Station. The city attorney reported that the ordinance concerning the defacing or injuring of public buildings or property would be ready to read at the next regular council meeting. On motion by Councilman Smith, seconded by Councilman Orr, the city manager was authorized to purchase a cloth, roll type map for the council room. The request of Councilmen Orr and Sorrels to be excused from the regular meeting in June was granted. Meeting adjourned subject to call. ATTEST: Mayor r' City Secretary 007
