City Secretary Hooks, Student Gov't Liaison baloney VISITORS PRESENT: See guest register. Mayor Ringer called the meeting to order. Aqenda It%m No. i - Presentation and consideration of a joint solid waste ~a~aqem~at operation. Major items for consideration include: a) feedback a-d direction on concept of formina combined reqional aqenoy; b) retainina appraiser; o) approval for staff to proceed with draftinq aare~ent; d) approval to proceed with preparation of i~pl~mentation plan by consultant engineers. Mr. Tom Brymer, Assistant city Manager for Community Services of the City of College Station stated that the purpose of this meeting is to provide information and receive feedback from both city councils on a proposal to combine the municipal solid waste operations. The proposal was provided to each councilmember and staff in booklet form. The details of the proposal were pre- sented during the staff's presentation. 007698 City Council Special Joint Meeting Wednesday, February 7, 1990 Page 2 Additional speakers who addressed the Councils were: Mr. Ed Ilschner, Public Works Director for the City of Bryan, Mr. Joe LaBeau, Public Services Director for the City of College Station, Mr. Ed McDow of McDow & Associates, and Mr. Bill Harrison, Director of Fiscal/Human Resources for the City of College Station. After completion of the presentation, a question and answer session was held among councilmembers and staff. The vote was taken. Bryan Councilman McQuaide moved to accept the recommendations by the staff to proceed with the agreement for a joint solid waste operation between the City of Bryan and the City of College Station. Councilman Reese seconded the motion which carried unanimously, 7-0. College Station Councilman Schneider moved to accept the recommendations by staff to proceed with the agreement for a joint solid waste operation between the City of Bryan and the City of College Station. Councilman Haddox seconded the motion which carried unanimously, 7-0. &qenda Item No. 2 - ~d~ourn.
