CITY OF COLLEGE STATION
WHEREAS,
Congress appropriated $18 million to the U.S. Small Business
Administration for the 1994 Cooperative Tree Planting Program to
plant trees on land owned or controlled by state or local
governments; and
WHEREAS,
The Texas Forest Service was named the lead agency for the state
to disseminate the available federal funds to be matched with local
contributions; and
WHEREAS,
The City of College Station is fully eligible to apply for matching
funds by supplying 45% or more of the total project cost to promote
tree planting on city controlled property; and
WHEREAS,
The City Council of the City of College Station is desirous of
authorizing its administrative staff to represent and act for the city in
dealing with the Texas Forest Service concerning this program; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS:
Section 1: That the City Council of the City of College Station hereby authorizes
and directs the Director of Parks and Recreation to represent and act for the City
of College Station in dealing with the Texas Forest Service for the purpose of this
program.
Section 2: Effective date: This resolution shall become effective from and after
its passing by the City Council of the City of College Station.
