COUNCILMEMBERS PRESENT:Mayor Ringer, Mayor Protem Mcllhaney, Councilmembers Mariott, Crouch, Fox, Hickson COUNCILMEMBERS ABSENT: STAFF PRESENT: A.qenda Item No. 1 Councilmember Kennady City Secretary Connie Hooks - Discussion and consideration of citizen committee appointments. Councilmembers made selections to various council committees and boards as follows: Cemetery Committee Sarah Adams - Chairman Katherine A. Edwards Councilman Mariott moved approval of the appointments to the Cemetery Committee. The motion was seconded by Councilman Crouch which carried unanimously, 6-0. Council Liaison: Lynn Mcllhaney Community Appearance Committee R. Douglas Slack Molly K. Gritter Kyle Singleton City of College Station Providing Customer Service Excellence City Council Special Meeting Thursday, June 8, 1995 Page 2 Kay Floyd Renee' Ramsey Nell Frazer Lindquist Councilman Crouch moved approval of the appointments to the Community Appearance Committee. The motion was seconded by Councilman Mariott which carried unanimously, 6-0. Council Liaison: David Hickson Construction Board of Adjustments and Appeals/Buildinq Standards Commission Glenn D. Thomas W.A."Wick" McKean Robed Mooney Nadine R. Stuth(Alternate) Councilman Mariott moved approval of the appointments to the Construction Board of Adjustments and Appeals/Building Standards Commission. The motion was seconded by Councilman Crouch which carried unanimously, 6-0. Councilman Fox moved approval of Paul Swoboda to serve on the Construction Board of Adjustments and Appeals/Building Standards Commission if a appointed members declines. Councilman Mariott seconded the motion which carried unanimously, 6-0. Council Liaison: Larry Mariott Desi.qn Review Board David Brochu, Chairman Robert R. Mooney Councilman Marriott moved approval of the appointments to the Design Review Board. The motion was seconded by Councilman Crouch which carried unanimously, 6-0. Electrical Examininq Board Danny Hubbard Steve Hanson Steve Dorsett City Council Special Meeting Thursday, June 8, 1995 Page 3 Councilman Mariott moved approval of the appointments to the Electrical Examining Board. The motion was seconded by Councilman Hickson. Councilman Crouch moved to amend the motion to appoint James Johnson, Steve Hanson and Danny Hubbard to the Electrical Examining Board. The motion was seconded by Councilman Fox, which was defected by a tie vote. FOR: Councilmembers Fox, Crouch, and Mcllhaney AGAINST: Councilmembers Ringer, Mariott and Hickson Councilman Fox moved approval of Danny Hubbard, James Johnson and Steve Hanson with the provision that if James Johnson declines, Steve Hansen would serve as an alternate. The motion was seconded by Councilman Crouch. The motion was defeated by a vote of 3-2. FOR: Councilmembers Fox and Crouch AGAINST: Mcllhaney, Mariott, Hichson and Larry Ringer Mayor Ringer asked for a vote on the original motion, which carried unanimously, 6-0. Council Liaison: Larry Ringer Historic Preservation Committee Merne A. Claycamp William B. Lancaster Mary Jane Hirsch Deborah L. Jasek Councilman Fox moved approval of the appointments to the Historic Preservation Committee. The motion was seconded by Mariott which carried unanimously, 6-0. Mayor Ringer stated that David Gerling has written a letter suggesting the President of the Old Main Society hold a permanent seat on the Historic Preservation Committee. Mayor Ringer disagreed because by doing this it would take away a permanent appointment by the Council; which the Council would have no control over. The Old Main Society is not an official committee on campus. Mayor Ringer suggested sending Old Main Society the schedule for the Historic Preservation Committee Meetings, and invite the members to attend. The Councilmembers agreed with the Mayor. Council Liaison: Bill Fox City Council Special Meeting Thursday, June 8, 1995 Page 4 Parks and Recreation Board Ron Gay, Chairman Andy Sheehy Debra A. Anderson Councilman Crouch moved approval of the appointments to the Parks and Recreation Board. The motion was seconded by Fox which carried unanimously, 6-0. Council Liaison: Nancy Crouch Planninq and Zoninq Commission Kyle Hawthorne, Chairman Charles R. Smith Winnie Garner Councilman Marriott moved approval of the appointments to the Planning and Zoning Commission. The motion was seconded by Hickson which carried unanimously, 6-0. Council Liaison: Rotation Zoninq Board of Adjustments Gib G. Sawtelle III Wayne T. Rife David Alexander (Alternate) Dr. Carl Ochoa (Alternate) Councilman Mariott moved approval of the appointments to the Zoning Board of Adjustments. The motion was seconded by Hickson which carried unanimously, 6-0 Council Liaison: Hub Kennady City Secretary Hooks asked consent to hold a banquet for all the appointed board- members. The Councilmembers agreed. Ms. Hooks asked if it was necessary for the boards to report to the Council on their activities. Mayor Ringer suggested encouraging the committees to come before the Council but it is not required.
