Resolution No. 3-1,3-97-7-d
WHEREAS the statutes of Texas permit the holding of joint elections by local
governments; and
WHEREAS the City of College Station desires that joint elections be held that are cost
effective and convenient for citizens of the City of College Station,
BE IT TI-IEREFORE RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of College Station that
joint elections be held with the College Station Independent School District under the
following terms and conditions, and the City Council herewith agrees with said conditions:
To share and share alike all costs of elections in each of the City voting precincts
having both an identical voting place and identical presiding judge with that of a
voting precinct of the District.
II. That it is the intent ofthe governing body of said City that joint elections are to
be held so long as lawfully permissible.
III. That the implementation and actual management of these annual joint elections
shall be with the City &College Station. The implementation and management of
the elections shall include the following:
A. The securing of qualified individuals to serve as election judges for each voting
box within a voting precinct.
B. Thc securing of the location and physical faci!'2ties where and within whi;cb the
election is to be located.
C. The securing of the official ballots and election materials and supplies requisite
to the proper administration of elections under the Texas Election Code.
Securing of a contract for election supervisory services which includes
counting of ballots with the Texas Voting Systems Service. Said contract shall
then be executed by the two governing authorities.
