HomeMy WebLinkAbout07/18/1949 - Regular Minutes - City CouncilCITY COUNCIL MEETING July 18, 1949 The City Council met in a deferred regular session July 18, 1949, with the following present: Tuiayor Langford; Councilmen Ames, Badgett, Black, Fitch, Halpin, and Orr; City Attorney Barger; City Engineer Benson; City Manager Rogers; Assistant City Secretary Boswell, and City Secretary McGinnis. A canvass of the ballots cast at the special election called for July 12, 1949, to elect a seccessor to Councilman E. E. Brown, resigned, for Ward 3 of the City of College Station, Texas, showed that William D. Fitch had a majority of the votes cast and he was declared elected by the Council. Mayor Langford gave the Oath of Office to the new councilman, William D. Fitch. Councilman Orr made a motion that the Council authorize City Attorney Barger to begin suit, and pay the necessary expenses connected with the suit, against the property owners on Cooner Street who have not paid their paving assessment. The motion was seconded by Councilman Badgett and the Council vote was all in favor of the motion. A discussion of the proposed budget for the City for the fiscal year beginning July 11 1949, as submitted by City I;7anager Rogers, was adopted after changes, and August 4, 1949, set as a date for a public hearing for the citizens. -approved: t i Attest: oe 00Pi Secretary Mayor 002,36 ,
