Special Meeting
Friday, May 8, 1998 at 12:00 p.m.
City Hall Council Chambers
COUNCILMEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Mcllhaney, Mayor Protem Kennady,
Councilmembers Esmond, Anderson, Mariott
COUNCILMEMBERS ABSENT: Councilmembers Birdwell and Hickson
STAFF PRESENT: City Manager Noe, City Secretary Hooks, City Attorney Cargill, Jr.,
Assistant City Manager Brymer
Agenda Item No. 1 -- Appointment of citizen to Cemetery Committee
Mayor Protem Kennady made a motion to appoint Ed Burns as a regular member to
replace Eileen Kramer, term to expire in 2000. Seconded by Councilman Mariott which
carried unanimously, 5-0.
A,qenda Item No. 2 -- Canvass of Election Returns from May 2, 1998 Election
Kay Parker, Presiding Judge of Central Counting Station read the resolution which
outlined the results of the election held on May 2, 1998.
Councilman Esmond made a motion to approve the resolution as presented. The
motion was seconded by Mayor Protem Kennady which carried unanimously, 5-0.
Mayor Mcllhaney congratulated the newly elected officers Ron Silvia and Anne Hazen.
She also thanked the remaining candidates who participated in the election process.
Agenda Item No. 3 -- Presentation of Service Plaques
Service Plaques were presented to Mayor Mcllhaney, Mayor Protem Kennady, and
Councilman Mariott for their two years of service from 1996-1998.

A,clenda Item No. 4 -- Adjourn
Council discussed two upcoming events: May 14, Law Enforcement Appreciation Day;
May 18, Texas Sister City Association in Corpus Christi; and dates for the council
planning retreat.
The meeting was adjourned at 12:25 p.m.
