Special Meeting
Wednesday, November 10, 1999 at 6:00 p.m.

COUNCILMEMBERS PRESENT:Mayor McIlhaney, Mayor Pro Tem Mariott,
Councilmembers Silvia, Hazen, Garner, Massey,
Maloney
STAFF PRESENT: City Manager Brymer, City Attorney Cargill, Jr., City Secretary
Hooks, Executive Assistant Broussard
Mayor McIlhaney called the special joint meeting to order at 6:15 p.m.
Members of the Brazos County Commissioners Court, Bryan City Council, College
Station ISD School Board, and Bryan School Board were present. The purpose of the
meeting was to provide a better understanding of school financing to these local entities.
The emphasis of discussion was on the impact of economic development to school
property taxes and legal restrictions upon public education systems. Discussion was held
on the formulas to calculate certain school funding levels. The consensus of the members
was to keep each other informed about economic development projects. It was also
mentioned that more joint projects between cities and schools were important in the area
of job training. Additional meetings such as this meeting were important for ongoing
communication between all entities.
Hearing no objection, the meeting adjourned at 7:39 p.m.
