HomeMy WebLinkAbout9-12-2002-11.09 - Resolution - 09/12/2002 RESOLUTION NO. 9 -12- 2002 -11.09 A RESOLUTION BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE INTEGRATION OF INTELLIGENT TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS IN THE BRYAN/ COLLEGE STATION AREA. WHEREAS, the City of College Station is committed to and realizes the benefits of working cooperatively on regional transportation issues; WHEREAS, the City of College Station's Vision Statement #2 is to provide for the citizens a safe, secure, and healthy environment; WHEREAS, the City of College Station's Vision Statement #6 is to provide easy travel to, within and from the community; WHEREAS, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) should improve transportation safety and efficiency; enhance transit integration and operations; reduce auto vehicle emissions; and improve traveler information for emergency and special events; and WHEREAS, the Texas Department of Transportation, the Texas Transportation Institute, and the Cities of College Station and Bryan have financially matched a 4 10 federal grant to integrate ITS technologies in the Bryan/College Station metropolitan area. NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of College Station, Texas: THAT the City Council supports the Memorandum of Understanding as submitted by the Texas Transportation Institute on behalf of the Texas Department of Transportation with regard to the "College Station Integration Project - Phase II; THAT the Mayor of College Station is authorized to sign the Memorandum of Understanding; THAT the staff will take administrative and procedural actions to implement the resolution; and THAT this resolution becomes effective immediately upon adoption.
