A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS,
APPROVING A GRANT APPLICATION WITH THE TEXAS PARKS AND
WILDLIFE DEPARTMENT FOR FUNDING FROM THE US FISH AND
WILDLIFE SERVICE SUPPLEMENTAL SECTION 6 FUNDS FOR RECOVERY
LAND ACQUISITION AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
EXECUTE GRANT DOCUMENTS.
WHEREAS, the US Fish and Wildlife Service, through the Texas Parks and Wildlife
Department, administers the Recovery Land Acquisition Grant program in Texas for the
purpose of acquiring land for the conservation of threatened and endangered species;
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of College Station desires to apply for a
Recovery Land Acquisition grant to acquire property in the Alum Creek watershed to
protect the endangered Navasota Ladies'- Tresses (Spiranthes parksii) as specified in the
1984 Recovery Plan, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE
STATION, TEXAS:
Part 1: That the City Council of the City of College Station hereby approve the grant
application for $300,000 for the purpose of recovery land acquisition within the
College Station city limits.
Part 2: That the City Council of the City of College Station hereby agrees to provide the
local match contribution for $330,000 as listed on the application.
Part 3: That the receipt of funding is contingent upon a mutually acceptable future
interlocal agreement between Texas Parks and Wildlife and the City.
Part 4: That the City Council agrees to pursue management options for the property in
cooperation with Texas A &M University and the Texas Department of
Transportation.
Part 5: That the City of College Station hereby authorizes and designates the City
Manager to sign agreements with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for
this grant on behalf of the City of College Station.
Part 6: That this resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage.
