HomeMy WebLinkAbout6-24-2004-11.13-b - Resolution - 06/24/2004 CITY OF COLLEGE STATION COUNCIL RESOLUTION NO. 6-24-200/+-11.13-b Resolution in Appreciation for the Leadership, Vision, and Dedicated Efforts of the State of Texas' U.S. House Congressional Member Congressman John Carter and His Support of the City of College Station's Regional Transportation Projects and Initiatives WHEREAS, Congressman John Carter has effectively represented the interests ofU. S. House of Representatives District 31 and the City of College Station, Texas and has been an advocate for numerous transportation projects to benefit the City; and WHEREAS, as a result of his efforts, the City of College Station has taken thc "High Road" resin'ding its Strategic Transportation Enhancement Program and has consistently worked to improve transportation awareness, planning, and design ofproiects that benefit not only the City, but the region, the Slate of Texas, and the nation; and WHEREAS, due in part to his active involvement and encouragement, the Brazos Valley Regional Transportation Summit, now in its third year, has continued to grow and develop as a venue to discuss multi modal transportation issues affecting thc Re,on and the State; and WHEREAS, the City of College Station has benefited from his leadership and wisdom along with the guidance and counsel o£ his extremely capable Staff in Washin~on D.C. and here in the District 31 office regarding the U.S. House approved fi~nding ofthe FM 60 (University Drive) Project, as well as his continued support of the Barren Road Interchange at SH 6, the U.S. Killeen - Bryan/College Station - Houston high-speed rail corridor extension to the South Central High Speed Rail Cmfidor and the Texas High Speed Rail and Transportation Corporation (THSRTC); now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS: SECTION !. THAT the City Council hereby expresses its sincere and heartfelt appreciation and gratitude for the Vision, Leadership, and Dedicated Effective Efforts of Congressman $ohn Cutter on thc behalf of thc citizens of the City of College Station, Texas, re~arding the planning, development, and funding of thc City's numerous regional transportation related projectS. SECTION II. THAT this resolution shall bc circulated to interested parties including the Texas Congressional Delegation, the Governor of Texas, the Lieutenant Governor, thc Speaker of the House, m~nbers of the Texas Legislature, RESOLUTION NO. 6-24-2004-1 I. ~ 3-b Page 2 SECTION IlL the Texas Transportation Commission, the Executive D/rector of the Texas D~artment of Transportation. the Bryan-College Station Dig~ric~ Engineer, the media and ethel,.
