COUNCIL RESOLUTION NO. 6-2~4-2004-11.13-a
Resolution in Appreciation for the Leadership, Vision, and Dedicated Efforts
of the State of Texas' U.S. House Congressional Member Congressman Chet
Edwards and His Support of the City of College Station's Regional
Transportation Projects and InitL~tives
WHEREAS, Congressman Chet Edwards has effectively represented thc interests of U.S. House
of Rcpresentat/ves District l I and has also generously assistad the City of College
Station, Texas regarding its FM 60 (Universtty Dr/ye) Project end has been an
advocate for numerous transportation projects to benefit the City;, end
WHEREAS, as a result of his efforts, the City of Collesc Station has taken the "High Road"
regarding its Sirategic Transportation Enhancement Program end has cousistenfly
worked to ira?rove transpomtion awareness, planning, and design of projects that
baneS! not only the Cily, but the region, the State of Texas, and the nation; end
WHEREAS, due in part to his active involvement and encouragement, the Brazos Valley
Regional Transportation Summit, now in its third year, has continued to grow and
develop as a venue to discuss mult~ modat lr~n~portation issues affecting the
Region and the State; end
WHEREAS, the City of College Station has benctited from his leadership end wisdom along
with the gnidanco and counsel of his extremely capable Staff in Washington D.C.
end in thc District I I office regarding the U.S. House approved funding of the FlVl
60 (University Drive) project, as well as his continued support of the Ben'on Road
Interchange at SH 6, the U.S. Killeen - Bryan/College Station - Houston high-
speed rail conidor extension to the South Central High Speed Rail Corridor end thc
Texas High Speed Rail end Transportation Corporation (THSRTC); now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION,
TEXAS:
SECTION I.
THAT the City Council hereby expresses its sincere end heartfelt
appreciation end gratitude for the Vision, Leadership, end Dedicated
Effective l!fforts of Congressmen Chet F_xiwards on the behalf of the
citizens of the City of Collegn Station, Texas, re~rding the planning,
development, end funding of the City's numerous regional transportation
related projects.
SECTION H.
THAT this resolution shall lac circulated to interested parties including the
Texas Congressional Delegation, the Governor of Texas, the Lieutenant

SECTION m.
Governor, the Speaker of the House, members of the Texas Legislature,
the Texas Transportation Commission, the Executive Director of the
Texas Department of Transportation, the Bryan-College Station District
Engineer, the media and others.
THAT this r~olufion shall take effect from and alter its final date of
passage, and it is accordingly so ordered.
