TEXAS AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE BRAZOS VALLEY COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS FOR FUNDING ASSISTANCE RELATIVE TO THE AGENCY'S HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE COLLECTION PROGRAM WHEREAS, the C~ty of College Station recogmzes the responsibdity shared with the City of Bryan to provide environmentally sound solid waste disposal services to the Brazos Valley Regmn; WHEREAS, the City of College Station operates the Rock Pra,rie Road Landfill on behalf of the Cities of Bryan and College Station: WHEREAS, the City of College Station operates an area-wide household hazardous waste collection and public education program, a backyard eomposting public education program and a white goods and metals reey¢l,ng program. WHEREAS, thc diversion of household hazardous waste, yard waste and white goods from the waste stream of the Rock Prairie Road Landfill represents prudent and environmentally sound stewardship by reducing the Ioxlctty and quantities of materials disposed in the landfill, and WHEREAS. the City of College Station intends to conduct additional programs in the areas of household hazardous waste, backyard compostmg and white goods recycling dunng this fiscal year, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the C~ty of College Station. Texas' That the City of College Station ~s hereby authorized to submit an Applicat,on for $25.000 00 under the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality Grant Program as disbursed by the Brazos Valley Council of Government. That the C~ty of College Station will comply w~th the provisions of the fiscal reimbursement and reporting requirements of the Brazos Valley Council of Government. the Texas Comm~ssion on Envn'onmenlal Quality and the State of Texas. That the grant funds will be used only for the purposes they are intended for under the grant. Resolution No. 6-24-2004-11.07 Pa~'2 That the proposed project is in compliance with and supports the Regional Solid Waste Management Plan as adopted by the Brazos Valley Council of Government That the Brazos Valley Solid Waste Management Agency Executive Director is hereby authonzed to act in all mai~ers in connection with this application ADOPTED this 24 ch day of June , A.D. 2004.
