A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS, APPROVING A GRANT
APPLICATION WITH THE TEXAS FOREST SERVICE TO DEVELOP AN URBAN FOREST
MANAGEMENT PLAN.
WHEREAS, the Texas Forest Service, in cooperation with tile U.S.D.A. Forest Service and the Texas
Urban Forestry Council, Inc., has established a statewide Public Outreach Challenge Grant Program as
part of its overall goal of developing and improving urban forestry programs in communities across
Texas; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the Git>.' of College Station desires to apply for a matching grant to
develop an Urban Forest Management Plan; now. therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION. TEXAS:
PART 1: That the City Cotmcil hereby approves tile grant application for $10,000.00 for the purpose
of developing an urban forest management plan.
PART 2:
That the City Council hereby agrees to provide tile local match contribution of at least
$10,000.00 as listed on the grant application and to supply 50% or more of the total cost of
the development of tile management plan.
PART 3:
That the City Council understands if a grant is awarded to the City of College Station, the
funds will not be available until after October I, 2001.
PART 4:
That the City Council of tile City of College Station hereby authorizes and designates the
City Manager to sign the agreements with the Texas Forest Service for this program on
behalf of the City of College Station.
PART 5: That this resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage.
ADOPTED this lOth day of May , A.D. 2001.
