HomeMy WebLinkAbout2-24-2005-13.01 - Resolution - 02/24/2005 RESOLUTION NO. 2-24-2005-13.01 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS, APPROVING A GRANT APPLICATION WITH THE PEDESTRIAN AND BICYCLE INFORMATION CENTER FOR A SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL NATIONAL COURSE. WHEREAS, the Pedestrian and Bicycle Information Center ( "PBIC ") provides training opportunities for communities who wish to develop sound Safe Routes to School programs; and WHEREAS, PBIC will cover twenty -five percent (25 %) of the costs to deliver said training opportunities to up to ten (10) communities who submit a grant application; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of College Station desires to apply for a grant to provide such partial funding for a one -day course in which the City will invite representatives from the City of College Station, College Station Independent School District, the City of Bryan, Bryan Independent School District, Texas A &M University and the Texas Transportation Institute to participate; and WHEREAS, the College Station Independent School District has agreed to partner with the City to co- sponsor and share the funding of said one -day course; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS: Part 1: That the City Council of the City of College Station hereby approves submission of the grant application for $1,750.00 for the Safe Routes to School National Course. Part 2: That the City Council of the City of College Station in partnership with the College Station Independent School District hereby agrees to provide a total of $2,625.00, one -half the sponsor's cost -share of $5,250.00, as listed in the call for applications. Part 6: That this resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage.
