HomeMy WebLinkAbout09/17/1947 - Regular Minutes - City CouncilMINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING September 17, 1947 The City Council met in regular session September 17, 1947 with the following present: Mayor Langford; Councilmen Ames, Badgett, Harrington and Orr; City Secretary McGinnis; and City Manager Vaughn. Visitors present: Mr. Rust of College Station, Mr. Barnett of Denton and a representative of the Corbusier Chevrolet Company of Bryan. The first business of the meeting was the opening of bids, as advertised, on a garbage pick-up unit to consist of a two -ton truck and packer type refuse collection body delivered to the City of College Station ready for use as per the list of specifications included in the invitation to bidders. Two firms bid on this garbage pick-up limit, The Corbusier Chevrolet Company of Bryan and the Barnett machinery Company of Denton. A tabulation of their bids follow, all prices quoted are for the unit delivered to the City ready for use, all prices quoted less Federal Excise Tax. Corbusier Barnett Two ton truck with -- Nine cubic yard Garwood Load Packer $5,188.50 No bid Thirteen cubic yard Leach Refuse Getter No bid $6,070.00 Eight and one-half cubic yard Leach Refuse Getter No bid 5,395.00 Ten cubic yard Heil Colecto-Pak 4,950.50 No bid Thirteen cubic yard Heil Coleoto-Pak 5,108.50 No bid Councilman Orr made a motion that the City accept the bid of the Corbusier Chevrolet Company of $5,108.50, less Federal Excise Tax, for the two ton Chevrolet truck with the thirteen cubic yard Heil Colecto Pak body, delivery to be made within forty`'five days from the date of the signing of the purchase contract. The motion was seconded by Councilman Ames and the Council vote was unanimous in favor of the motion. Councilman Badgett made a motion the Council vote on the proposed Ordinance Number 107, an Ordinance authorizing the City of College Station to issue warrants in the sum of $20,250.00,0 the money to be used for the erection of the City Warehouse and Office building. The motion was seconded by Councilman Harrington and the vote was unanimous in favor of the motion. The Mayor was authorized by the Council to notify Mr. R. J. Dunn et al that their petition protesting the erection of a Chapel in West Park could not be acted upon by the City Council as they have no authority in this matter. A communioation from the City Zoning Commission recommended that the established zoning regulations in the Boyett Addition be not changed. This was the reply to a petition to the City Council by certain property owners on Main Street, Boyett Addition, requesting that certain areas zoned for residential purposes anly be changed to multi -family areas, AP s Attest: ` Mayor City Secretary �LR� x;3240 `l�
