HomeMy WebLinkAbout03/14/1946 - Regular Minutes - City Council MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING March 14, 1946 Members present: Mayor Langford; Councilmen E. E. Brown, R. L. Brown, Harrington, Crawford, Orr; and City Manager Smith. Visitors present: Dr. John H. Binney and E. E. Ames. The request from Mr. Louis Gorzycki to operate a fruit stand at the North Area was tabled until the attitude of the merchants in that general area might be obtained. On motion by Councilman Harrington, seconded by Councilman Orr, Mr. E. E. Ames was granted permission to operate two additional taxicabs within the city limits. The request of Mr. Joe Pasler for the Council' s approval of his subdivision was postponed in order that Councilman Orr and City Manager Smith might consult Further with Mr. Pasler relative to certain desirable changes within the addition. On motion by Councilman R. L. Brown, seconded by Councilman Orr, the Council approved the recommendation of the Zoning Commission that a request of Dr. J. H. Binney and J. B. Lauterstein that lots 1-5, inclusive, Block 1, College Park be zoned to First Business District be denied. On motion by Councilman E. E. Brown, seconded by Councilman Orr, the Council upheld the recommendation of the Zoning Commission relative to the property owned by Marty Karow in south College Park. qp The request of Mr. C. A. Bartholow for closing a street in Cooner Addition was referred to the City Planning Commission. On motion by Councilman Orr, seconded by Councilman Crawford, the question of operating a trailor photo house in the North Area as denied in view of the fact that the area is within the fire limits zone, and the further fact that sewer facilities are not available at the particular site. The Council approved unanimously the recommendation of the Mayor that a statement of policy be prepared and published in the Battalion. A copy of the statement is attached hereto and becomes a part of these minutes. The complaint of Guy Boyett, • Jr. filed in the case of traffic violation by C. N. Surber was referred to the City Judge. The City Manager was authorized to sell one tractor and equipment provided acceptable bids might be received. Appro d: .................
