HomeMy WebLinkAbout12/12/1946 - Regular Minutes - City Councillummmmft MINUTFS OF REGULAR MEETING 19 December 12, 1946 Members present: Mayor Langford, Councilmen Orr, Brown, Ames, Harrington, Wilcox and Crawford, City Manager Vaughm and City Secretary McGinnis. Visitors present: A. Mitchell, D. B. Cofer, C. C. Doak, dnd C. B. Godbey. Mr. A. Mitchell presented a request of the property owners in South Oakwood in which the Council was asked to assume control and direction over certain restrictions applicable only within South Oakwood. It was the opinion of the Council that it did not have authority to assume jurisdiction within a restricted area but assured Mr. Mitchell that he could report that an attorney's opinion would be sought and that he would be notified at the earliest moment. City Manager Vaughn and Mr. Barger were authorized to prFpare a peddlers ordinance in time to have it presented at the January meeting. City Manager Vaughn was authorized to confer with E. N. Holmgreen, Business Manager of A. & M. College, in the matter of working out an agreement whereby the City might extend fire protection outside of its limits. Mayor Langford and City Manager Vaughn were authorized to have prepared and printed cemetery warrants in the amount of $10,000.00 to mature within five years at an interest rate of four per cent per annum. Warrants woul-d be in the amount of $100.00 each for a total of 100 warrants. The Council passed to final reading Ordinance No. 93 wherein certain corrections are made in the original zoning map. The City Manager was authorized to make such corrections on any future maps wh.i.ch,might be issued by the City. `±r' No action was taken in the matter of the request for rezoning by Mr. J. C. Culpepper of certain lots located in College Hills and lying along Highway No. 6. The Council expressed its willingness to approve the request at such time as Mr. Culpepper would submit evidence showing that the original restrictions in the deeds had been legally changed.
