Called meeting May 10, 1945 held jointly with A. & M. Consolidated
3 " School Board at the High School.
Members persent: Mayor E. Langford; Councilmen G. B. Wilcox, M. T.
Harrington, E. E. Brown, J. A. Orr; and City Manager Lloyd D. Smith
Purpose of the meeting was to discuss the City's collecting taxes for
the A. & M. Consolidated School.
On motion by J. A. Orr, seconded by G. B. Wilcox, the Council approved
the proposal that the City should collect school taxes, the proposal
being essentially as follows:
The A. & M. Consolidated School is to turn over to the City
all tax reoords as of June 15, 1945. The City assumes no
responsibility for errors, delinquent taxes, or any other
records prior to the above date. In return for these services
to be rendered by the City the A. & M. Consolidated School
agrees to pay to the City $780.00 per year in monthly install-
ments of $65.0c and to furnish the services of Miss Golda Batson
for two months following June 15 without expense to the City.
This agreement shall be effective for one year beginning June 15.
The City agrees that any saving which may be effected shall
accrue to the interest of the school.
41111 On motion by J. A. Orr, seconded by M. T. Harrington, the Council
agreed to cooperate with the A. & M. Consolidated School in a city-
wide recreational program agreed to make available th.e sum of
$1000.00 for use by the school in the event that it should be found
desirable that the school authorities furnish a director for the program.
It was further agreed that this action shall be construed to be in
line with expressed desires of the citizens of College Station at the
informal balloting on April 24, 1945.
