Brown; and City Manager Lloyd D. Smith. Visitors present: R. L. Hunt, Ford Munnerlyn, M. L. Cashion, Dean H. W. Barlow, Mrs. Ethyl Burgess, Mrs. D. W. Willias, Mrs. A. B. Stevens, Mrs. E. D. Parnell, J. G. Gay, F. G. Anderson, J. D. Prewitt, L. G. Jones, W. D. Bunting. This group appeared before the council to discuss the proposed recreational program. Mr. E. E. Ames appeared to request permission to operate a taxi cab within the city limits. The council tentatively agreed to grant Mr. Ames permission provided satisfactory arrangements can be worked out with the O.D.T. It was also tentatively agreed between Mr. Ames and th4 council that if he is granted the request that the fare anywhere within the city limits would be 35/, this to include one to three persons if all are picked up and carried to the same destination. If delivery is made to different points the fare will be 35/ each. The council authorized the mayor and city manager to prepare a list of taxes to be cancelled, it being generally agreed that any delinquencies prior to Mr. Smith' s appointment as city manager would be cancelled inasmuch as there exists a possibility that a dependable record might not be found. Mr. Smith was instructed to name a street in the general area of the R. L. Myers property. He was also authorized to attend the meeting of the city managers in Dallas May 23-25, 1945. The council approved transfer of certain funds from the electric fund to the general and water funds. The council fixed the penalty for speeding at $5.00.
