HomeMy WebLinkAbout06/14/1945 - Regular Minutes - City Council MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING June 14, 1945 Members present: Mayor Ernest Langford; Councilmen E. E. Brown, R. L. Brown, M. T. Harrington, G. B. Wilcox, C. W. Crawford, and J. A. Orr; City Manager Smith. Mr. Reed Wipprecht appeared before the Council to request that the Council give consideration to extensions of water mains in various parts of the City. Mr. Erwin Smith appeared to request that the Council give further consideration to his operating a taxi cab within the city limits. The Mayor, City Manager, and Mr. Crawford were requested to ask for a conference with Dean Bolton to discuss the possibility of a reduc- tion in utility rates. The Council authorized the City Manager to purchase Lot 19, Block 11 Boyett Addition from Mrs. G. B. Mathews; Lot 20, Block 11, same addition from G. F. Boyett; Lot 21, Block 11, same addition from Mrs. Bertha Cox; the purchase price of each lot to be $$600.00. It was further agreed that the lot purchased from Mr. Boyett would be paid for in services and city taxes. Mr. Smith was instructed to give full publicity to the clean-up campaign ; 40, for June 25-27. ..:..................... Mr. Smith was also instructed to confer with Dr. James L. Hart of the Brazos County Health Unit about the disposition of sewage in the College Hills Woodland Acres and in certain other areas within the city limits of Bryan and immediately north of the city limits of College Station.
