HomeMy WebLinkAbout06/28/1945 - Regular Minutes - City Council MINUTES OF CALLED MEETING June 28, 1945 Members present: Mayor Langford; Councilmen R. L. Brown, Crawford, Harrington, Orr, and Wilcox; and City Manager Smith. Councilman Orr presented a report of his work on the proposed subdiv- ision, Southeast College Park. Mr. Orr further stated that the proposed development meets in all respects the requirements regulating subdivisions. within five miles of the city limits. On motion of gr. Crawford, seconded by Mr. Harrington, the report was accepted and the Mayor was instructed to notify the County Clerk and Dr. F. B. Clark of the Council' s action. The City Manager outlined a proposal of certain street improvements to be made during the summer. The Council authorized him to proceed at his earliest convenience on the plan as presented. The Council authorized the City Manager to proceed with negotiations for the purchasing of Type H tractor complete with accessories for oiling, mowing, grading, etc. The Council authorized the City Manager to go to Houston to discuss with the O. D. T. the possibility of granting Mr. E. E. Ames permission to operate a taxi oab within the city limits/ with the approval of the 0. D. T. Mr. Ames to be issued a City taxi license. The Mayor reported that a conference had been held with Dean Bolton relative to a possible reduction in utility rates and that the Dean had suggested that he would make a further study and present a recommenda- tion to the Board of Directors.
