HomeMy WebLinkAbout07/13/1945 - Regular Minutes - City Council MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING July 13, 1945 Members present: Mayor E. Langford; Councilmen, E. E. Brown, Harrington, Crawford, Wilcox; and City Manager L. D. Smith. Mr. L. Pfrimmer appeared before the Council to request that his son be granted a concession for soft drinks in connection with the summer recreational program. The Council granted the concession on the condition that five per cent of the gross sales be paid to the recreational council. Mr. J. D. Prewitt was appointed as a member of the Zoning Commission to succeed Mr. E. J. Urbanovsky. The Mayor was authorized to sign the City's note to Mr. Frank G. Anderson for $6,000.00 at four per cent interest, the money thus borrowed to be used on street improvements and for the purchasing of certain road equipment. The Council voted that beginning August 1, 1945 the discount on utility billings would be five per dent instead of the ten per cent which has been allowed heretofore. The Council also reiterated its intention of cooperating with the A. & M. „. .. Consolidated School Board in the employment of a teacher who in addition to his regular school duties would be supervisor of the City-ride recreational program, the participation of the City to be $1,000.00 per year.
