HomeMy WebLinkAbout11/15/1945 - Regular Minutes - City Council REGULAR MEETING OF CITY COUNCIL ! November 15, 1945 Members present: Mayor Langford; Councilmen Wilcox, Crawford, Harrington, E. E. Brown; and City Manager Smith. On motion of Councilman Harrington, seconded by Councilman Crawford, the following resolution was adopted: RESOLUTION The Council having by Ordinance No. 83 proposed the rezoning of Lots 11-18 inclusive, Block 5, and Lots 14-27 inclusive, Block 6 & 7, Boyett Addition to District No. 4, First Business District; and having by the same Ordinance caused to be published and posted due notice of such proposal, as well as having referred the question to the Zoning Commission for recommendation; having set a date for public hearing on the proposal, and the public hearing having been had accordingly, where proponents and opponents alike were given an opportunity to be heard -- the Council hereby accepts the recommendation of the Zoning Commission that such rezoning be approved, and declares that all of that property described above is hereby rezoned to District No. 4, First Business District, same to be effective this date. The above resolution was approved by the vote of all Councilmen present. i :;;;; _; On motion by Councilman Crawford, seconded by Councilman E. E. Brawn, the following resolution was adopted: RESOLUTION The Council having by Ordinance No. 84 proposed the rezoning of all of that property described as follows: "...From the intersection of Taubers Street and Sulphur Springs Road for a depth of 189.4 ft. along Taubers Road and for a front- age from said intersection easterly along Sulphur Springs Read to the interseotion of Sulphur Springs Road and Highway 308 ..." be zoned to District No. 4, First Business District; and having by the same Ordinance caused to be published and posted due notice of such proposals and having referred the question to the Zoning Commission for recommendation; having set a date for public hearing on the proposal, and the public hearing having been had accordingly, where proponents and opponents alike were given an opportunity to be heard -- the Council hereby accepts the recommendation of the Zoning Commission that such rezoning be approved, and declares that all of that property described above is hereby rezoned to District No. 4, First Business District, same to be effective this date. The above resolution was approved by the vote of all Councilmen present. J. Councilman R. L. Brown was unable to attend the meeting but gave the Mayor a verbal statement previously that he would vote "Aye" on both resolutions if he were present. A copy of the Ordinance was ordered posted and a public hearing was set for 8 p.m., December 13, 1945 in the City Office. The City Manager,was authorized to subscribe $20.00 for membership in the International City Managers' Association. The City Manager was instructed to contact home owners relative to straightening out certain house numbers along Dexter and Jersey streets and authorized to make the necessary changes when approval had been received. The Council referred the request of J. B. Lauterstein and J. H. Binney for the rezoning of Lots 1-4 inclusive, Block 1, College Park to the Zoning Commission.
