HomeMy WebLinkAbout08/01/1944 - Special Minutes - City Council • MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING August 1, 1944 Members present: Mayor Langford; Councilmen Wilcox, E. E. Brown, R. L. Brown, Crawford, Barrington; City Manager Smith; Visitors Roger Smith of Waco and Joe Bland of Austin, present for letting of Contract for street improvements, sewer extensions, etc. Proposals for sewer extensions were opened publicly. W. A. McClendon of Houston was low with a bid of $6,690.80. On motion of Councilman Crawford, seconded by Councilman Wilcox, the contract for sewer improvements in College Hills Estates was awarded to Mr. McClendon at the above figure, the final award to be contingent upon the signing of all necessary documents, etc. Mr. Joe Bland of Collins-Bland Construction Company, Austin, Texas, submitted the following proposal on street improvements : The Collins-Bland Construction Company will furnish all materials, labor, equipment, and supervision for placing the following unit items in accordance with the Texas State Highway specifications on materials furnished and applied; Est. Water Trucks (1100 gal.) 120 " 2.75 330.00 $9,806.80 The City of College Station,to furnish base material on project site for reshaping base. Equipment shown is to be used only in reshaping and preparing new construction prior to application of asphalt, or as directed by the engineer. On motion of Councilman Crawford, seconded by Councilman R. L. Brown, the Mayor and City Manager were authorized to enter into a contract with M . Bland, subject to certain arrangements to be worked out to their satis- faction. On motion of Councilman Harrington, seconded by Councilman E. E. Brown, Ordinance No. 80 was adopted. On motion by Councilman Crawford, seconded by Councilman Wilcox, the petition of George McCullough was referred to the City Planning Commission. All On motion by Councilman R. L. Brown, seconded by Councilman Harrington, similar action was taken on a petition filed by J. B. Lauterstein. • 00151 411- The City Manager was instructed to contact Culpepper-Boughton, Realtors, r ... concerning the moving of houses within the city limits without permission. The City Manager was authorized to enter into any workable agreement with Victor Dominik relative to sewer extension through the Tatter' s property. The Council approved the following membership on two Commissions for the period ending with the regular city election in 1946. City Planning Commission toning Commission S. R. Wright, Chairman H. W.
