HomeMy WebLinkAbout03/16/1944 - Regular Minutes - City Council MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING March 16, 1944 Members present: Mayor Langford, Councilmen Orr, Brown, E. E. , Brown, R. L. , Crawford, Harrington; Business Manager Smith; L. P. Gabbard, L. G. Jones, and J. E. Breland, representing the A & M Consolidated School Board. The question of the City's handling the collection of taxes for the A & M Consolidated school was discuseed by the Council and the representatives. The conclusion was that the matter would be tabled for the time being. On motion of C. A. Crawford, seconded by M. T. Harrington, the petition of. Mr. Walter Johnson that certain property be incorporated into the city limits was approved. The property described in Mr. Johnson's petition is as follows: "That portion of land lying north of the present city limits of College Station, south of the city limits of Bryan, east of old Highway 6, and west of the Tauber property." The Council authorized Mr. Smith to see that the above property, which is largely undeveloped, be rendered at a value commensurate • with similar property and et such a rate as would be agreeable with the owners. On motion of R. L. Brown, seconded byJ. A. Orr, Ordinance No. 77 was adopted. Ordinance 7T is an ordinance creating fire limits within the city.
