L; Business Manager Smith. Mr. S. D. Snyder appreared before the Council to discuss the question of insurance. The Council accepted the results of the regular election of April 4, 1944 for record. For Mayor: Ernest Langford 85 votes • For Councilman: J. A. Orr 48 votes For Councilman: M. T. Harrington 13 votes For Councilman: E. E. Brown 5 votes For City Secretary: S. A. Lipscomb 52 votes For City Manager form of Government 74 votes Against City Manager form of Government 7 votes i The following took the oath of office: Mayor Langford -- for !term of two years Councilmen Harrington'Brown, each for two years The Board of Equalization for the current year was appointed as follows: F. R. Brison, Chairman R. L. Hunt T. E. Rattan The Mayor was authorized to look into the question of gntnting a leave of absence to Councilman Orr in case it should develop that he might be away for any number of regular meetings. Business Manager Smith was instructed to look into the legal aspects of con- demnation of certain lands for the projected sewer lines. The Mayor appointed a committee composed of D. B. Cofer, T. W. Leland, A. Mitchell and Janus Sullivan to work with the Business Manager in determining what streets are to be repaired during the summer months. The Council authorized the Business Manager to offer Mr. Lee Norwood a monthly salary of $175.00 as City Marshall, with the provision that Mr. Norwood would bear his own expenses in the use of his car. The Mayor and Business Manager were instructed to have the City Attorney pre- pare an ordinance relative to trespassers and window peepers. The Business Manager was authorized to attend the meeting of City Managers in Dallas on April 17. In view of the fact that checks will not be issued by the College prior to the 10th of the month, the Council authorized the postponement of payment of utility bills until the 15th without loss of discount. 00142 1J-� Minutes of Regular Meeting April 13, 1944, Page 2 Council authorized the Mayor to sign note F G Anderson, $5000. Ordinance No. 79 was adopted. The following resolution was adopted: RESOLUTION The citizens of College Station having voted on April 4, 1944, to adopt the City.Manager form of government, Ordinance No. 78 is hereby adopted, and in conformity therewith the title of Mr. L.
