( ) A special meeting of the City Council was held on April 2, at
8:15 P.M. in the City Office with Avlayor Binney presiding, and
Aldermen Jones, Wilcox, Lipscomb, Orr and Gabbard and City Attor
ney Barger, City Engineer McNew and City Sanitary Engineer Steel
in attendence.
The purpose of the meeting was to receive the returns of the Cit
• Election held on April 2nd. Mr. J. Gordon Gay, an election judg;
submitted the returns. On motion of Gabbard and seconded by Orr
the attached election results were accepted.
A motion was made by Wilcox and seconded by Gabbard to pass an
(--) Ordinance requiring Building Permits. Motion carried.
Motion was made by Gabbard and seconded by Wilcox to instruct the
City Marshall to carry out the desires of the City Engineer in
notifying the builders to get building permits. Motion carried
Motion was made by Lipscomb and seconded by Wilcox to authorize
the building of the electric line to the theater. Motion carries .
Motion was made by Wilcox and seconded by Orr to authorize the
City Secretary to write to the automobile dealers in Bryan thank
ing them for their bids, but to postpone action until the meetini,
( ) of the new Council. Motion carried.
Motion was made by Wilcox, and seconded by Orr to authorize Mr.
Steel to start the work immediately for closing the gap in the
water line between Oakwood and College Park Additions.
Motion was made by Wilcox and seconded by Orr that the city sec-
retary be authorized to handle the buying of stamps for the
Deed of Trust for the sale of College Perk Utilities to the city
It was agreed to refer Dr. Russell's request for a building in
West Park Addition to the Zoning Commission.
Come on to be considered in a special open meeting of the City
Council of the City of College Station, Texas, on this the 2nd
day of April, 1940, the returns on an election duly called to
be held and held in aforesaid city for the purpose of enabling
the qualified voters therein to elect city officers.
The returns having been made by J. Gordon Gay, who, having been
appointed to serve and did serve ashen election judge of said
election, said returns being sealed, with the name of said J.
Gordon Gay in delivering said returns in open meeting of City
) having made oath before the Mayor that the returns by him deliv-
ered had not been altered or opened since being signed and seale• ,
the returns were thereupon opened and canvassed by the City Gpu -
oil, and it appearing that the following voted were respectivel
cast for the City Offices.
