The City Council of the City of College Station met in regular 1 session at the city office, with Mr. Gabbard presiding, and Alder 1 men Lipscomb, Orr and Jones and city attorney J. W. Barger in attendence. Mr. Richards met with the Council. City Attorney Barger and Mr. Steel were designated by the council to deaw up an Ordinance on the rules and regulations governing the collection of garbage. For the present, however, until this ordinance is passed, a re- solution was passed as follows: A i}totion was made by Jones, and seconded by Orr, to 1. Instruct Mr. Richards to not trespass on people's propert . 2. The Council does not expect him to try to use an impassable c ) alley. • 3. The Council does not expect him to collect garbage or trash not in containers reasonabley possible of being car. Tied, nor accessable to his truck. Motion carried. A motion was made by Jones and seconded by Lipscomb to instruct the city secretary to write a letter to the members of the Board of Directors of the Southside Development Company to ask permis- sion to build a line to their line and attach and connect. Motion carried. -..) The Council instructed the Aw"ayor to write a letter to the Board of Directors of A. & M. College renewing the request for the sal: • of water. Mr. Barger agreed to take up the gas franchise again. Motion was made by Orr and seconded by Lipscomb to authorize the city secretary to purchase and pay for a typewriter. Motion carried. Motion by Orr and seconded by Jones was made to pass the Ordinance �) for the sale of the Oakwood Utilities. Motion carried. ' It was moved by Lipscomb and seconded by Jones to accept the re- signation of Dr. Binney as Mayor, as of April, 1940. The secretary was instructed to call Dr, Thomas and give him the permission of the council to move several houses throughtthe city streets. The city is to obtain a 'gond for the city secretary as treasueer and tax collecgor.
