HomeMy WebLinkAbout01/22/1940 - Special Minutes - City Council V 6 Minutes of a Special Meeting of the City Council, Monday, Jan.22 1940 The City Council of the City of College Station met in special session in the City Office, with Mayor Binney presiding, and ( Aldiermen Wilcox, Lipscomb, Orr, Jones and Gabbard in attendence. 1 Mr. Steel, Chairman of the Zoning Commission, Mr. Faires, and Mr Ii IIorsley, members of the Zoning Commission, were present. Mayor Binney, Mr. Lipscomb, and Dr. Jones have a report of their meeting with the Board of Directors of A. & M. College, in reger ence to the cityts buying water from College. A report was given by Mr. Lipscomb and Mr. Orr on their meeting with Dean Bolton in reference to utility rates for the new theater. Mr. Orr reported that block maps of the city could be made by ( ) some of the students of the College, and he was requested to con tact Mr. Simpson to find out about N.Y.A. students making the city maps. A motion was made by Orr and seconded by Jones, to authorize Mr. Barger to write up a contract with Mr. Burgess on the sale of Oakwood Utilities, to be presented to the City Council at its regular meeting. Motion passed. A Motion was made by Orr to postpone the consideration of the Zoning Ordinance until February 1, the regular meeting; but fail ed to carry for lack of a second. r It was moved by Gabbard and seconded by Jones that the Council adopt the Ordinance as recommended by the Zoning Commission. motion by Gabbard, and seconded by Jones, amended to include sue, changes as are noted on the map and wording of the Ordinance, was finally unanimously passed. It was moved by Jones and seconded by Wilcox that a contract be given to W. 0. Richards for garbage collection for one year at a monthly rate of w 85.00 per i.onth.
