HomeMy WebLinkAbout08/18/1939 - Regular Minutes - City Council 0 , 3 Minutes of Meeting of City Council on August 18 , 1939 The City Council met in regular session at the City II C 1 Office August 18 , with Mayor Binney and Aldermen Gab- bard , Lipscomb , Long, and 7ilcox present. The application of C. P. James for license to oper- ate three taxi-cabs was presented . It was moved by Wilcox and seconded by Gabbard that this be granted . Motion carried. • It was reported by the Mayor that Mr. Sparks and Mr. Boughton failed to qualify for membership on the Board of .Equalization. It was moved by Gabbard and seconded by 7ilcox that Guy Boyett and V. M. Faires n be appointed as members of the Board of Equalizaion. Motion carried. Ordinance No .11 was amended upon motion made by Wilcox and seconded by Lipscomb , and duly passed,, to provide that the Board of Equalization should meet the third Wednesday of August . Ordinance No . 27, Section 2 , ( b ) was amended to provide for the reduction in the amount of insurance required for taxi-cabs , to /read 5,000 liability and 1 ,000 property damage. Upon motion by Long and second- ed by Lipscomb , the amendment was passed. Ordinance No. ,Z,_ provided for the levying of occup ation tax was passed . Ordinance No. 27, Sectionll , sub. ( b ) !
