Minutes of the Meeting of the City Council October 19 , 1939 .
The regular meeting of the City Council was held at
7:30 P.M. on Oct. 19 , in the city office with Mayor
Binney presiding, and Aldermen Gabbard , Lipscomb , Jones
{ and Orr in attendance.
A motion was made by Jones and seconded by Lipscomb
to adopt Ordinance No. 31.oN Motion dparried.
It was agreed to write a letter to Mr. M.C. -Hughes,
Chairman of the Utility Committee , to ask him for a
report of the progress made by his committee.
Mayor Binney read a letter from Mr. Steel , who report-
ed on the activities of the zoning commission.
(,l A motion was made by binscomb and seconded by Orr, to
pay a bill of $ 18.46 to the Texas Blue Print Company
at "Taco , for Zoning Maps.
A motion was made by Orr and seconded by Gabbard to
adopt the following ordinance- No 32.. Motion carried.
Be it ordained by the City Council of the City of
College Station, Texas:
1. That the City of College Station hereby agrees that
i.f the State Highway Department will purchase andll
r install at its own expense , one or more stop-go or
flasher type electric traffic control lights at
points inside the corporate limits of this city,
That the City of College Station will furnish
power to operate and control in a manner sati -
factory to the Highway Department of Texas.
2. That the Mayor is hereby authorized and directed
to contract and make other necessary arrangement
on behalf of the city for carrying out provision-
contemplated in Section 1 of this ordinance.
) It was moved by Gabbard and seconded by Orr to adop
the following resolution. Resolution adopted.
Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of
College Station:
1. That the City Council desires traffic control lights
located on Highway No . 6 within the city limits.
a. Grant' s Filling station corner.
b. At the intersection of street leading from Ca"-
pus to College Hill' s Estates.
c. At the intersection of street leading from Ca -
i pus to College Hill' s Estates.
d. Intersection of Hwy. No . 6 and County Road to
College Park and Oakwood Addition.
2. That the city prefers the stop-go type of contro
over the flasher type.
