1A special meeting of the City Council was held on
^.pril 12 , 1939 , in Room 400 Agricultural Building, of the
Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas, with Mayor
Binney presiding and ^aldermen Tong, Lipscomb , Jones ana
Gabbard and City Attorney Barger End City Marshall Hop-
per in attendance .
The Aldermen drew lots to see who would serve on the
Council for one year wnd who would serve for two years .
The following drew two year terms; Lipscomb , Long, ''Til•lox
while Jones and Gabbard drew one year terms.
Mayor Binney arPoirted S. A. Iinscomb to act on
board to regulate the taxibab situation in place of
Air. Langford who was not re-elected alderman.
Mr. Gabbard moved that a letter be written to Mr.
Crawford thanking him for acting as electi n judge for
the city election held April 4 , 1939 . Long seconded
motion; motion carried .
The following ordinances were duly presented:
( 1 ) On motion of Long and seconded by Jones the
ordinance was unanimously adopted , 7, 7.
( 2 ) On motion of Long an:d' seconded by Gabb€.rd the
ordinance was unanimously adopted , it 8.
( 3 ) On motion of Jones and seconded by Long the
• ordinance was unanimously adopted , 9.
( 4) On motion of Lipscomb and seconded by Gabbard
the ordinance was unanimously adopted , % 10 .
Mayor Binney appointed Frank Brown to act as City
Fire Marshall for the City of College Station, Texas.
Mr. Gabbard moved to approve the appointment and Long
seconded it . The motion carried.
Dr. Jones moved to authorize the payment of the
following bills:

College Station Seal IT IT 4.66
Court SealTT 4__. 66
Total '17 .58
Gabbard seconded the motio and it carried.
