AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE SALE AND ADVERTISEMENT FOR SALE OF
MOTOR VEHICLES IN THE EASTGATE AREA OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STA-
TION.
WHEREAS, the City of College Station currently provides parking
to the Eastgate park and the Eastgate businesses in the area de-
signated in the attached Exhibit "A"; and
WHEREAS, the Eastgate parking requirement for the businesses in
the area is 212 parking spaces, but because of the age of the
area it is deficient by 100 parking spaces; and
WHEREAS, the City of College Station has had additional right-of-
way area available for use as parking. It has provided parking
to the area for both the park and the businesses; and
WHEREAS, the City of College Station City Council has found that
the designated parking area is being utilized for the purpose of
selling and advertising to sell used cars; and
WHEREAS, the City of College Station has found that the sale of
used cars in this area is unsightly, detracts from the aesthetics
of the area, causes congestion impeding the use of the parking
spaces as support for both the park and the shopping center; and
WHEREAS, the City of College Station City Council wants to insure
that the 57 spaces in the right-of-way are used for the support
of the designated Eastgate area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of
College Station, Texas, that:
The sale and advertisement of motor vehicles for sale is prohib-
ited in the Eastgate area designated in the attached Exhibit
"A". "Advertisement" shall be defined as parking or locating a
motor vehicle in the Eastgate area for twenty-four (24) hours or
more or visibly displaying any or all of the following: numbers
indicating a dollar amount selling price; words specifying "For
Sale" or equivalent language.

A sign shall be posted by the City of College Station in the
Eastgate parking lot designating the area as "Sale and Advertise-
ment of Motor Vehicles for Sale Prohibited. Fine $20 to $200."
Parking of a motor vehicle in the area for purposes of sale or
advertisement for sale shall be subject to a fine from $20 to
$200. Parking a vehicle in the area, in violation of this ordi-
nance, shall be a parking violation subject to towing under the
City's towing ordinance requirements.

A 9.62 acre area in the College Hills Estates subdivision in th,
amity of College Station situated between Texas Avenue and Foster
Street and extending approximately 600 feet either side of waltoi•
Street, said area being more particularly described as follows:

Estates Phase I, said corner also being the most northern corner
of Eastgate Park;
