AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 10, SECTION $-E(2)(n)(24), OF
THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION RELATING
TO SPEED ZONES, SPECIFICALLY DESIGNATING ADDITIONAL AREAS IN
THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION IN WHICH RATES OF SPEED OF THIRTY
(30) MILES PER HOUR OR MORE ARE AUTHORIZED; RESCINDING ALL
PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND DECLARING THAT
ATTENDANT FACTS NECESSITATE IMMEDIATE ACTION.
WHEREAS, completion of the extension of Welsh Street from
Deacon Drive to Rock Prairie Road is expected during the
spring of 1992;
WHEREAS, Texas law states that the maximum speed limit through
an urban district is 30 m.p.h, unless zoned by the proper
authority;
WHEREAS, the City of College Station has the authority by city
ordinance to alter maximum prima facie speed limits; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF COLLEGE STATION THAT:
Chapter 10, Section 3-E(2)(n)(24), of the Code of ordinances
of the City of College Station relating to speed zones is
hereby amended to read as follows:
"Welsh Avenue, for traffic moving north and
south shall be thirty-five (35) miles per hour
from the intersection of Welsh Avenue and
Holleman Drive to the intersection of Welsh
Avenue and Rock Prairie Road."
II.
The preservation of the general welfare of the public necessi-
tates immediate action; this Ordinance shall be effective from
and after the date of its passage as provided by the Charter
of the city of College Station.
III.
This ordinance shall become effective and be in full force and
effect from and after its passage and approval by the City
Council and duly attested by the Mayor and City Secretary.
