AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS ORDERING
A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION IN THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION
ON SATURDAY, MAY 1, 1993 FOR THE ELECTION OF A CITY
COUNCILMAN PLACE 1, A CITY COUNCILMAN PLACE 3, AND A CITY
COUNCILMAN PLACE 5; FIXING THE TIME, PLACE AND MANNER FOR
HOLDING THE ELECTION; APPOINTING JUDGES AND CLERKS THEREOF;
AND, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN AN OFFICIAL ORDER OF
ELECTION.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE
STATION, TEXAS:
SECTION i
A General Election shall be and the same is hereby ordered
to be held on the first Saturday in May, 1993, the same
being May 1, 1993 for the purpose of electing Councilmembers
for Place 1, Place 3, and Place 5.
The election shall be held under the provisions of the laws
of the State of Texas governing the general elections, and
only duly qualified voters who are residents of the City of
College Station shall be allowed to vote in the election of
Councilmembers.
Said election shall be held in conJuction with the College
Station Independent School District Board of Trustees
Election, whereby an election precinct is to be served by a
common polling and election judge. The implementation and
actual management of this election shall be with the City of
College Station. A single ballot form at each polling place
shall be used, provided; however, that no voter shall be
given a ballot containing any office on which the voter is
ineligible to vote.
The polls shall be opened promptly at 7:00 a.m. and shall be
closed promptly at 7:00 p.m.
The Office of the City Secretary shall perform all duties
normally performed by the County Clerk in general elections
with respect to early voting, giving notice of the election,
and preparing the official ballots. The City Secretary
shall serve as the Early Voting Clerk. The Election
Coordinator for the College Station Independent School
District shall serve as Deputy Early Voting Clerk.
The election shall be held at the following places and the
election officials shall be, for the purpose of this
election, as follows:

Boswell, in said City and said District,
as Presiding Judge and ~ as Alternate Judge; and
said Presiding Judge shall appoint no more than 3 clerks to
assist her.
Pollimo Pl&oe No, 9, at College Station Conference Center on
1300 George Bush Drive, in said City and said District, with
Ma Sohm'~t as Presiding Judge and ~ as
Alternate Judge; and said Presiding Judge shall appoint no
more than 3 clerks to assist her.
Pollin~ Place No. 10, at College Station Municipal
Courtroom, 2611 S. Texas Avenue, in said City and said
District, with ~ as Presiding Judge and James
~ as Alternate Judge; and said Presiding Judge shall
appoint no more than 3 clerks to assist her.
Pollin~ Place Nov 20, at Memorial Student Center, Room 138,
consisting of County Voting Precincts No. 21 and 61, in said
City and said District, with H&rvev Alan Montgomery as
Presiding Judge and Dar& Moore as Alternate Judge; and said
Presiding Judge shall appoint no more than 3 clerks to
assist him.
Polling Pl&ce No. 24, at College Hills Elementary School,
1101 Williams, consisting of County Voting Precinct No. 75
in said City, with~J~ as Presiding Judge and
Di&na ~ as Alternate Judge; and said Presiding Judge
shall appoint no more than 3 clerks to assist her.
Polling Place No. ~6, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 1200
Foxfire Drive, consisting of County Voting Precinct No. 59
and No. 83, in said City and District, with ~ as
Presiding Judge and ~ as Alternate Judge; and said
Presiding Judge shall appoint no more than 3 clerks to
assist her.
Pollino Pl&ce No. Si, at A&M Consolidated High School, FM
2818 and Welsh Avenue, in said City and said District, with
Vi Cook as Presiding Judge and ~ as Alternate Judge;
and said Presiding Judge shall appoint no more than 3 clerks
to assist her.

in said City and said District, with ~ as Presiding

consisting of County Voting Precinct No. 35, in said City

assist her.
Pollen= Pl&ce No. 34, at City Hall Training Room, 1101 South
Texas Avenue, in said City and said District, with Charlotte

Judge, and said Presiding Judge shall appoint no more than 3
clerks to assist her.
Pollen= Plsce No. 39, at Rock Prairie Elementary School,
3400 Welsh, in said City and said District with L&rrv Nells
as Presiding Judge and ~ as as Alternate Judge,
and said Presiding Judge shall appoint no more than 3 clerks
to assist him.
Po11~n~ Pl&oe No. 40, at Aldersgate Methodist Church, 6501
East Bypass, consisting of County Voting Precincts No. 58,
71, and 73, in sa~d City and said District, with Oeoroe
Henderson as Presiding Judge and~ as Alternate
Judge, and said Presiding Judge shall appoint no more than 3
clerks to assist him.
Early voting shall be conducted hypersonal appearance and
by mail. Early voting by personal appearance shall be in
the Training Room at City Hall, 1101 South Texas Avenue,
College Station, Texas; early voting by mail shall end April
23, 1993. During the period early voting is required or
permitted by law, being April 12, 1993 through April 27,
1993, the hours designated for early voting by personal
appearance shall be from 8=00 a.m. to 5=00 p.m. The Early
Voting Clerk for said election shall be the City Secretary.
She shall appoint City employees to serve as deputy voting
clerks to assist her at the polling place. The Election
Coordinator for the College Station Independent School
District shall also serve as Deputy Early Voting Clerk in
said election.
The following persons are hereby appointed as the Early
Ballot Board to count the early ballots:

SECTION III
Punch card voting machines shall be used for voting at the
foregoing election precincts and electronic count devices
and equipment shall be used for counting the ballots at said
election.
The Council Chambers in the College Station City Hall, is
hereby established as Central Counting Station to receive
ballots for said election, the ballots to be tabulated and
returned to the office of the City Secretary.
The following persons are hereby authorized and approved as
persons employed and designated to handle the ballots,
operate the tabulating equipment, and count the ballots.

The following state officials and other designated persons
are hereby authorized to be present at the Central Counting
Station to observe the election counting process:
a. Mayor and members of the College Station City Council
b. The Board of Trustees of the College Station School
District
The City Secretary and designated members of staff
The City Manager of the City of College Station
The Superintendent of schools and designated members of
staff
f. The County Judge and members of the Commissioners Court
of Brazos County
The Attorney General of the State of Texas or his
authorized representative.

SECTION V
A committee is hereby established consisting of the
following persons to hold Computer Accuracy Teats, including
two tests prior to the state and one test immediately after
the count of the voted ballots, to ascertain that the
computer will accurately count the votes cast for the
propositions to be voted upon in said election:
a. Mayor of College Station
b. The president of the CSISD Board of Trustees
c. City Secretary of College Station
d. CSISD Election Coordinator
e. City Manager of City of College Station
f. The superintendent of CSISD
g. The preaiding judge of Central Counting Station
SECTION VI
The Mayor of the City of College Station is hereby
authorized to sign an official ORDER OF ELECTION FOR THE
CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS as prescribed by the Texas
Election Code, said NOTICE OF GENERAL ELECTION as precribed
by the Texas Election Code, said ORDER OF ELECTION FOR THE
CITY OF COLLEGE STATION to be attached hereto and recorded
as part of this Ordinance.
The Mayor of the City of College Station is hereby
authorized to sign an official NOTICE OF GENERAL ELECTION as
set forth in a form prescribed by the Secretary of State of
Texas~ and a copy of the NOTICE OF GENERAL ELECTION, when
published in a newspaper of general circulation in the City
of College Station, shall serve as proper notice of the
election ordered by this Ordinance.

LA CIUDAD DE COLLEGE STATION EL DIA 1 DE MAYO, 1993, PARA LA

MANDATO POR EL CONSEJO DE LA CIUDAD DE COLLEGE STATION,
TEXAS:
Una eleccion general sera y la cual es ordenada que se
llevara acabo el primer sabado en mayo, 1993, el mismo
siendo el dia 1 de mayo 1993 para el proposito de elegir
miembros del consejo para el lugar 1, lugar 3, y lugar 5.
La eleccion sera conduclda bajo las provisiones de las leyes
del Estado de Texas que goblernan las elecciones generales y
solamente votantes capacitados que sean residentes de la
Cludad de College Station, seran de]ados que voten en la
eleccion de los miembros del conse]o.
Dicha eleccion sera conducida conjuntamente con la eleccion
del Consejo de Administraclon del Distrito Escolar de
College Station, por lo cual un precinto de eleccion sera
servido por un sitio de votacion y un juez de la eleccion
comun. Una papeleta en cada sitio de votacion sera usada, a
condicion de que; sin embargo, ningun votante sera dado una
papeleta conteniendo algun cargo en que el votante es
inelegible para votar.
Las urnas seran abiertas puntualmente a las 7:00 a.m. y
seran cerradas puntualmente a las 7:00 p.m.
La oflcina de la Secretaria de la Ciudad ejecutara las
obligaciones que normalmente son e]ecutadas por la
secretario del condado en las elecciones generales con
respeto ala votacion de ausencia, dando noticia de la
elecction, y preparando las boletas of~clales. La
Secretaria de la Ciudad servira como Secretaria de la
Votacio de Ausencla. La coordlnadora de la eleccion para el
Distrlto Escolar de College Station sera Deputada Secretaria
de Votacion de Ausencia.

Secretaria de la Ciudad, Connie Hooks, en el Cuarto de
Entrenamiento, en la Casa de Ayuntamiento de la Ciudad de
College Station, 1101 South Texas Ave., College Station,
Texas, entre las ocho de manana y las cinco de la tarde
empezando el 12 de abril de 1993 y termlnando el 27 de abril
de 1993. Por el proposito de votacion de ausencia, la
Secretaria de la Ciudad tendra la oficina abierta por lo
menos ocho (8) horas en cada dia para votaclon de ausencia
cada dla excepto los sabados, domingos y dias de fiestas
estales.

despues, para asefurar e×actitud de cuenta de las boletas
con la computadora en las propocisiones que votaran en dicha
eleccion:

GENERAL oficial como establecida por el Secretario del

lunes a viernes en la Palacio Municipal de la Ciudad de
College Station, 1101 South Texas Avenue, College Station,
Texas entre las ocho de la manana y las cinco de la tarde
empezando el 12 de abril de 1993 y terminando el 27 de abril
de 1993.
