Most these days know her as super sales gal, but she started both in sales and on the air with Joe Monroe. She was Meyer of Muck and Meyer in the late 1970s, and she recalls doing all the crazy stuff that DJs do. 00:00:41 Mary Hatcher (MH) We had so much fun. I kissed a pig for the… Diabetes Association because at that point in time, the main source of insulin came from pigs. So, we had some community leaders and volunteers that’s- that's how we raised money. I won, of course, because I solicited on air and tremendous support-support from the listeners. You know, $5 and $10 donations, $20 donations. I remember Leon Sevcik says, I'll give you $100. You know, great support from listeners. Whatever we said we needed, they were there to help us. And that was the listenership of WTAW. Another event, I mud wrestled for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. 00:01:27 TT Yeah, if it's for charity, Mary Mike Hatcher just can't say no. And she comes by that naturally. 00:01:33 MH My mother was a scout leader. My father, you know, was a-a Kiwanis. My-my mother was a historical society member. You know, we saw them. Even when they raised a family, they could do both. They might not, could have done it to the level that we do it today. And they were always proud to be Americans. 00:01:54 TT Mary Mike Hatcher, always serving. This is WTAW, the first 100 years.
